After last months disappointing line up the *April Cohorted Beauty Box really shines but it won’t be to everyone’s taste as it’s very dominated by nail care but with a refreshing line up of new brands plus a lip product from MAC I’m really loving its new lease of life and it’s definitely a huge improvement compared to last month’s edition. Covering make-up, perfume, nailcare and a bath treat, there’s a fantastic mix this month with lots of new discoveries, all of which are full sized so it’s great value for money and it’s absolutely jam packed!
With seven full size products, the April edition showcases the brands MAC, Miss Patisserie, The Body Shop, MDM Flow and Gold Elements, all of which are beautifully presented inside their signature black box secured with an organza ribbon giving it a very luxurious look and feel.
1. MAC Patent Polish Lip Pencil – Full Size RRP £17.50
My Monday – Friday work make up routine is pretty minimal mainly because I rather spend that extra time snoozing so the MAC Patent Polish Lip Pencil is perfect for my lifestyle. I think there are different shade options this month and I received Kittenish, a pretty rosy pink creme that consists of a lightweight formula with a subtle sheen of gloss.
Whilst the pencil doesn’t need sharpening, the rounded tip doesn’t give a precise application which for me is the only flaw. In terms of pigmentation it’s semi-sheer however a few swipes builds a good layer of coverage.
2. Gold Elements Nail Care Kit – RRP £29.49
These products were such a pain to photograph so apologies in advance for the bad quality! My nails are rarely naked and therefore never really have an opportunity to breathe so the addition of of this nail care kit is the perfect excuse to revive and hydrate my nails. Within the kit is a buffing block, cuticle oil, hand cream and a nail file and pretty much contains everything you need for a home manicure! Gold Elements isn’t a brand I’ve heard of before so I’m really excited to give these products a go.
3. Miss Patisserie Milk and Honey Bath Melt – RRP £3.99
The oh so pretty bath melt from Miss Patisserie really does mimic a real cupcake and it’s so well designed that you can’t even tell the difference! It smells good to eat too!
This sweet and creamy milk, almond and honey bath melt with added salts contains nourishing cocoa and shea butters to moisturise deep into the skin providing your body with vital antioxidants and minerals. Each Patisserie Bath Melt is sprinkled with some detoxifying salts decorated with cosmetic grade shimmer
4. The Body Shop White Musk Libertine EDT – Full Size RRP £24.00
I think we’re all familiar with The Body Shop’s classic White Musk fragrance and whilst it was never my favourite from their collection the White Musk Libertine is a sugary sweet incarnation featuring notes of Turkish delight, chantilly cream and orchid.
At first whiff, the scent comes across really strong however it soon shifts into something subtler, smoother and creamier making it such a youthful scent that’s perfect for Spring and Summer.
5. MDM Flow Lipstick in Panther – Full Size RRP £18.00
MDM Flow isn’t a brand I’ve been introduced to before but the packaging alone is so beautiful. Unfortunately the shade Panther takes me into Barbie territory and isn’t something that I’d be brave enough to wear but the formula is really lovely so I’ll definitely be checking out their collection.
My Verdict
After last month’s disappointment, the jam packed April edition definitely rekindles my love for Cohorted and it’s clear from the contents that it’s been injected with a new lease of life which is really refreshing to see as the brand and product repeats really took the excitement out of a box that was renowed for it’s wow factor. Covering a good area of beauty I think there’s something for every beauty fan and whilst it’s dominated by nail care the kit itself is such a generous addition this month. A couple of items were a little hit and miss for me but overall I’m delighted with the remainder and there’s definitely quite a few gems that I’m happy to have discovered. As always the value is incredible so it’s definitely worth the £35.00 price tag but I really hope they use this as an example for their upcoming editions.
If you lust over premium and high end brands or simply want a guilt-free treat each month the Cohorted Beauty Box really is great for that.
