The July 2014 Glossybox perfectly designed and wrapped has arrived and I think most subscribers were eagerly waiting to find out what goodies were in store this month especially when Glossybox revealed their Stars and Stripes special edition box.

This month Glossybox has gone stateside with a special edition Stars and Stripes Box, showcasing exciting beauty brands born in the USA and have brought together the best transatlantic beauty discoveries to share with their subscribers.

A box all things make-up this month and definitely one I was looking forward to. Yay to no skincare or body products. I have far too many collecting dust at the moment.

Glossybox is a  monthly beauty subscription service. The box consists of  4-5 selected hair, make-up , body and nail products from well-known brands and new brands and includes a mixture of full sized and sample products.

This month’s box included 4 full sized products and 1 sample sized product.

1.   Bellapierre Mineral Lipstick  – Full Size RRP £20.00

There’s a guaranteed Bellapierre Mineral Lipstick for all subscribers this month available in three summer shades which come in a red, orange or pink shade.

I was secretly hoping for the red or the pink as orange just isn’t my colour. Typically I received the orange shade in Manderina.

I’m quite pale and unfortunately this does look way too bright for my complexion to wear during the day. I think if I got a tan this would be perfect for the Summer as it really would compliment the look.

2.     Absolute New York Perfecting Eyeshadow Primer – Full Size 7.9g  RRP £3.00

This is an oil-free ultra creamy formula which evens skin tone around the eye area and keeps eyeshadow crease-free and colour true for a lasting look.

It appears that this isn’t retailed in the UK which does make it even more special.

I’m not a fan of eye shadows however this can be used under the eye area too for brightening which is certainly up my street. I guess this can also be applied on the eye lid to keep your top liner in place without it smudging throughout the day.

3.     Colour Club Nail Varnish – Full Size RRP £5.00

A nail varnish brand which I have been meaning to try as I’ve heard great things. It’s made in New York and is non toxic and contains cruelty free ingredients.

The shade which I received is called Glossy Seal and is a cross between  a blue and teal like colour. I really can’t pin point the exact tone. This shade has been especially formulated for this month’s Glossybox which kind of makes you feel special as no one other than Glossybox subscribers will have this shade.

This is quite a matte and dull shade and not a colour which I would usually go for however I am liking this it’s certainly different.

4.    Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4 in 1 Mascara –  Sample Size 4ml. Full Size 7ml RRP £19.50

I’ve never tried this US brand and this is the one product I’m sure you will agree is worth getting excited over. The mascara tube is quite unusual and the pattern is a snake skin effect.
This mascara hero has lengthening, curling, volumising and conditioning properties for healthy longer lashes.
I love anything which promises longer fuller lashes so did this live up to the above expectations? It certainly did! I loved the texture of the brush which ensured that each lash was separated without clumping the lashes with product build up. It also did a good job in lengthening too.
This is also a great sample sized product which is worth around £11.00.
5.   Carmex Lip Balm – Full Size 7.9g RRP £2.69

A well known product and a brand which is easily available on the high street. I didn’t even know Carmex was born in the US.

This is the original Carmex lip balm which soothes dry, chapped lips and contains menthol, camphor and beeswax.

A nice edition to the box.

My Verdict

I’m really liking this month’s GlossyBox  – what’s not to like it’s a box full of make-up in a vibrant American themed designed box. The products included also complimented the theme very well.  I certainly was happy to see no skincare or body products this month.

This month’s box included 4 full sized products and 1 sample sized product which is pretty amazing. There was a guaranteed Bella Pierre Lipstick in this month’s Glossybox for all subscribers which is great and some subscribers also received the exclusive nail varnish also. A good variety of make up products this month.

I am liking this new step in direction for Glossybox and fingers crossed they continue to work on delivering these standard of boxes. One of my bug bears with Glossybox is everyone’s boxes vary so much in the products they receive including the overall value of the box. I think a lot of subscribers were hoping for the Tarte Mascara and I’m pleased that I’ve seen a fair amount of boxes with these in.

Glossybox do include some full sized products which bumps up the value of the box so it’s a great price to pay to discover and trial products from well known and new brands.  I will be making use of 4 out of 5 the products featured in this  box with the exception of the lipstick as I just don’t have the right complexion tone to pull this off at the moment.

The contents within this month’s box is worth an amazing £41.69 which is great value for money and has also given me a good taster of some American brands which I’ve not had the opportunity to try before.

I do love coming home to Glossybox for the surprise aspect it’s like having a birthday present to unwrap every month!
