It’s that time again where I delve into one my favourite box’s and chat about my next round of curated samples. This month, Birchbox have paired up with none other than Cath Kidston and I think it’s really awesome to see them join forces with such a beautiful brand plus it was nice that they incorporated one of their prints for the box design too – it’s so, so pretty! Line-up wise, it’s not as varied as I would have liked but does include two make-up items! There’s also an adorable sized Cath Kidston hand cream accompanied by a 15% off voucher which you can redeem via their website.
Without further ado here’s what I received inside my April Birchbox (Contents may vary. Please see the April spoiler post to see what you may receive).
Up first and the item that I was most excited about is the ModelCo Baked Highlighter (sample size 1.5g) and subscribers are able to choose between two shades this month. I received Moonshine which is what I would have picked out myself but on the flip side I wasn’t expecting it to be so teeny, it is cute though! This radiance-boosting powder adds instant luminosity to eyes, face and cheeks and contains a blend dark and light hues swirled through them to give you the perfect pop of colour. It also promises to stay put all day.
Next we have the Beautaniq Beauty Fill + Tame Brow Gel in the shade Brunette (Full size RRP £8.60) and is another item that all subscribers can expect to see inside their box. This multi-tasker thickens, defines and tames your eyebrows to add shape and fill in sparseness for a naturally thick look. Enriched with aloe vera (containing 32 different vitamins and 75 nutrients!), the lightweight formula keeps brows feeling healthy and conditioned to promote hair growth, long term. Although the shade is a little too light for me, I do enjoy trying new brow products so will give this a go as they do stock a darker shade.
On the skincare front and another item that I’m looking forward to trying is the Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow Illuminator (Sample size 10ml), a multi-tasking BB cream that hydrates and calms skin, evens tone, controls shine, lightly masks imperfections, and, thanks to tiny flecks of light-reflecting pigments it infuses skin with a fresh-from the-yoga-studio radiance. This hypoallergenic, gluten-free, perfume-free, and oil-free formula is perfect for those with sensitive skin.
Sticking to skin care is the Lumene Nordic C [Valo] Overnight Bright Sleeping Cream (sample size 15ml) which is described as an anti-oxidant rich formula night cream that recharges skin to quench thirsty and fatigued complexions, meaning you can wake up feeling fresher than a daisy. Ingredients include Cloudberry seed extract, vitamin C and hyaluronic acid and work in harmony to retain the skins natural moisture levels, meaning your complexion is left balanced and refreshed.
Last out of the box and to accompany this month’s collaboration we have the Cath Kidston Hand Cream (Travel Size 30ml RRP £2.50) and is something I couldn’t wait to pop open – it smells so lovely! Infused with notes of jasmine, orange flower and vanilla which gives this cream its dreamy scent, the nourishing vitamin E and Shea butter promises to keep your hands and nails soft, supple and ultra hydrated.
My Verdict
I thought this was a great collaboration from Birchbox from the design details right through to some of the contents. Although not everything was suitable, I’m definitely looking forward to trying out the highlighter, the primer and I’m already in love with the hand cream which smells so pretty. The Beautaniq Beauty Fill + Tame Brow Gel was a bit disappointing shade wise but I really enjoy discovering new brow products so it I’ll definitely give this a go as I’ve seen that they do a darker shade so fingers crossed it’s as amazing as it sounds! Most of the samples were on the teeny side this month – I was rather amused by the size of the ModelCo highlighter, I was expecting it to be much bigger!
