The April 2015 You Beauty Discovery Box has landed and this month’s shortlist theme is Natural and Organic and features a great variety of skin loving treats covering all areas of beauty from both well known and emerging brands. This is definitely one of my favourite menu’s this year and it was even harder than usual to shortlist just two products. This month I opted for a innovative skincare product and a Konjac Sponge.

“You Beauty Discovery” is a monthly beauty subscription service. The box consists of 2 selected hair, make-up and beauty products from well-known and new brands and they also include 2-3 bonus samples. Unlike the other subscription boxes you get to choose two products of your choice from a diverse selection menu each month.
My box included 2 products of my choice from the shortlist and two extra bonus treats.
1. Heaven Skincare Peppermint Clarifying Hydrogel – Sample Size 10ml RRP £10.00
With prestigious clientele like the royals , it’s no wonder that Deborah Mitchell is causing quite a stir in the beauty world. Her Heaven skincare collection is famously made with innovation whilst also benefiting from the goodness of natural and organic ingredients, all of which are tailored to meet the needs of different skin types and concerns.
This isn’t your average skincare product, it’s a hydrogel which cleans, primes, hydrates, firms and also claims to do everything a toner does and much more. Out of the three different hydrogels I opted for the Peppermint Clarifying Hydrogel as it sounded particularly wonderful for my oily skin and promises to refine pores whilst also restoring the moisture levels in your skin.
This delightful gel moisturises, clarifies and conditions with it’s unique all-in-one formulation and it’s light weight texture absorbs quickly without any greasiness. The novelty of the product is the infusion of peppermint in the mix which gives the gel a subtle mint fragrance and a refreshing, cooling effect upon contact with the skin. It feels incredible on my oily skin and I can see this being a staple for the warmer months ahead.
2. Spa To You Konjac Sponge – Full Size. RRP £7.99
The Spa To You Konjac Sponge is made from 100% pure, natural konjac dietary fibre and due to it’s softness and gentleness, it’s ideal for everyone to use, including new born babies and those with delicate and sensitive skin. With daily usage, it promises to bring back the natural glow and softness of the skin.
I’ve never used a Konjac sponge before but I’ve read great things about how beneficial they are especially when cleansing. I can’t wait to use this squishy sponge and just by feeling it, I know my skin will love it.
3. Extra Samples within the box:
This month, You Beauty Discovery included two bonus samples in the form of a Fix Me! Repairing serum sachet by Yours Truly Organics and a sachet of Milled Organic Cocoa & Berries Flaxseed by Linwoods.
My Verdict
This month’s shortlist is definitely a firm favourite of mine and I absolutely adore both of my picks including the extra samples. The menu itself had a good balance of beauty showcasing both well-known and emerging skin- friendly brands. I can’t wait to incorporate both of my new skincare products into my regime and I’m particularly excited to try out the konjac sponge.
The value of my box is worth £17.99 beating the actual cost of the box and includes one full sized product with the remainder being sample sized. If you want to try a more friendlier approach to beauty, this is a great place to start as the box itself is only £6.95.
The magazine within the box included various discount codes for all of the brands featured this month which is great if you want to purchase further products.
You Beauty Discovery is one of my favourite beauty boxes, it’s budget friendly, gives you full control on what you want inside your box and it’s a great way to discover emerging and well known brands from a good selection of beauty products. I’ve been really impressed with their shortlist menu’s recently and for only £6.95 every month it’s super affordable and good value for money.
