Whilst Spring has sprung, the only downside is that the weather isn’t playing ball although that’s pretty much the norm when it comes to British weather, however the Limited Edition Tatler Birchbox has landed and brings the beauty of spring straight to your door. This month sees Birchbox partner with Tatler Magazine to celebrate the best of British and as well as the photogenic box, inside you can expect to see a homegrown line up of beauty must-haves covering a good area of beauty from top to toe.  The box boasts six products that are all generously sized and the contents are worth an incredible £60.00 in value. Whilst we live in a huge global market, this box really puts some of the greats from all around the UK in the spotlight and brings together a selection of both well-known and emerging brands.

1.  Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish – Travel Size 50ml with muslin cloth. RRP £9.75

Although I’ve received numerous samples of this cleanser in the past, I’m always happy to receive a back up as this cleanser is one that I turn to time and time again when my skin is in need of a pick-me-up.

This world-renowned two-part skincare system has a major cult following and it promises to gently remove all traces of dirt, grime, and make-up including waterproof mascara and eyeliner when used with the ingenious 100% cotton muslin cloth which works alongside the cleanser to slough away dulling dead skin cells for a gorgeous glow. It’s all-natural infusion also contains moisturising cocoa butter and two of nature’s best astringents – eucalyptus essential oil and rosemary to lift dirt off the skin’s surface without disrupting the natural barrier function.

The cleanser itself has a refreshing but almost soothing scent and this is one of those cleansers that I love using mainly because it feels quite pampering on the skin when used alongside the muslin cloth. This miraculously makes my skin feel refreshed, clean and moisturised and it’s suitable for all skin types too. I’m really happy to see this generous travel-friendly version, it’s the perfect size for weekends away and short breaks.

2.  Dr Jackson’s Natural Products Face Oil 03 Full Size 25ml. RRP £30.00

If you read my posts regularly, you will know that I have a new found love in the form of facial oils so was delighted to see a natural alternative from the Dr Jackson collection, not a brand I’ve heard of before but this oil alone retails for more than the box itself which is really impressive.

The brand has a very pharmaceutical look and feel which fits in aptly with it’s science-led concept and Dr Jackson’s white coat!  The oil comes in a glass bottle with a pipette dropper and its nourishing elixir is blended from 100% natural ingredients such as rich Marula oil, Candula, Arnica and Baobab oil to powerfully reverse the effects of damage, replenishes nutrients and renews a youthful radiance as well as it’s anti-inflammatory qualities.

As soon as you open the bottle you are greeted with an abundant but pleasant herbal aroma and a couple of drops goes a very long way. The oil didn’t absorb into my skin as well as I’d liked but it definitely put life back into my lack-lustre skin whilst leaving it feeling rather soft. In terms of the formula I love it and think it would be more suited as a restorative night treatment for me as opposed for day use. Overall I think it’s a great luxurious treat for the skin and I can see this working wonders for those who have dry skin.

3.  Aromatherapy Associates Renewing Rose Body Cream  – Travel Size 40ml. Full Size 200ml RRP £35.00

The renewing Rose Body Cream is my first foray into the Aromatherapy Associates body care collection so was happy to make the discovery.

The cream contains a blend of botanical oils, including rose, geranium and evening primrose alongside shea butter to moisturise the skin with a luxurious and velvety texture.

The lotion itself has a silky feel and sinks in quickly whilst hydrating the skin without leaving an oily residue and of course, the best part is the charming and pampering rose scent which literally smells like a true British rose garden, a very fitting product which will blend in seamlessly with spring.

4.  Percy & Reed London Dry Instant Volumising Spray – Full Size 200ml RRP £14.00

I love Percy & Reed especially their dry shampoo which is definitely a cut above the rest compared to others I’ve tried and I was delighted to see their Dry Instant Volumising Spray as it’s a product that I already use and absolutely adore.

You literally just lift sections of your hair, spray into the roots and massage the product in a little and BOOM, instant body and volume requiring very little effort without any stickiness or greasiness. What I really love about this product is that it’s great for maintaining that extra oomph after a blowdry.

5.  Bamford Geranium Hand and Body Wash  – Sample Size 50ml. Full Size RRP £24.00

Bamford isn’t a brand I’ve heard of before but they sit pretty in the heart of the Cotswolds, a place known for its beauty and inside the box you can expect to see their Geranium, Lavender and Peppermint Body Wash.

This gentle bodywash is plant-based and blended with soothing aloe vera, is rich in antioxidants and promises to refresh and condition the skin. It’s potent scent delivers a refreshing and uplifting burst of freshness and if you love to coordinate your shower gel with the mood you’re in like me, this is the perfect scent to energise your morning or to wind down after a long day.

6.  Ciaté Paint Pot – Full Size 13.5ml. RRP £9.00

Last but certainly not least is a well-known and loved brand, Ciaté who house their nail varnishes in a super-cute bottle with a perfectly placed bow and as well this,  it’s also their innovative colours and finishes which suck me in all the time.

I received the shade Maybe Baby which is a pink/brown taupe shade.  It’s quite an interesting neutral and isn’t a shade that I currently hold within my stash and think the shade will work all year round.

My Verdict

The Tatler Birchbox really puts the best of British in the spotlight and whilst we live in a huge global market, it’s very easy to forget about those that are literally on our doorstep and this box really pulls together a great selection of homegrown greats from both well-known and emerging beauty brands from across the UK. The box itself features a great balance of beauty covering everything from skincare, bodycare, hair and nails, and with all of the products being really good-sized it’s a great opportunity to really get to know these popular and hidden gems that little more better.

Overall I’ve really enjoyed discovering everything within this box and there’s nothing that I won’t continue to use. Individually, the products would cost £60.00, but you can get your hands on the whole lot for just £25.00 making it super-affordable and great value for money. The box also includes an offer for a discounted 12 month subscription to Tatler Magazine.
