By no means do I know what it’s like being a mum but I can somewhat relate after all your bound to have your hands full with very little time for beauty routines or pampering time. One thing for sure is whilst mums are busy caring for their little bundle of joy these things can often take a back seat and it’s pretty much forgotten about after all where would you find the time? So when *Mums Treats got in touch with me about their fairly new subscription box I thought it was a genius idea that delivers a box full of beauty and lifestyle treats whilst also taking the effort out of something which may appear to be a chore. It’s not the best box of contents I’ve received, some of the contents are from old lines and I was expecting more of a summery feel in terms of the theme however I’m also mindful that they are fairly new to the beauty box market and have only just dipped their toes in.

Each month, the Mums Treat subscription box contains a diverse selection of 5 beauty treats inside their signature box. They believe that being a mum is not just about changing diapers and breastfeeding and therefore try to bring mums a bit more style in their lives.

The July edition features four full sized beauty products alongside one lifestyle item and features the brands Korres, Max Factor, Rimmel and Claudia Stevens.

1.  Korres Ginger and Vitamins Foundation – Full Size RRP £18.45

For those of you fans of organic/naturalproducts, Korres is a must try brand, I’ve been really impressed with what I’ve tried so far however the shade won’t suit everyone which is a shame as it’s one of the highlights inside this month’s box.

The Korres Ginger & Vitamins Foundation is a lightweight water-based foundation that provides smooth application and is easy to blend. Offers a medium coverage with added SPF protection. Enriched with Vitamins E and C and Ginger Extract to tone and hydrate the skin and gives it a fresh, even and radiant finish.

In terms of the coverage and blendability it has a sheer to medium coverage from what I found, so I did need to pull out my concealer to go over blemishes and trouble spots (like redness) but overall, it’s a lovely product for day time and during the summer and with all those vitamins your skin gets a treat too! I must say that I love the way it feels on my skin and the look it provides. I find that it also leaves a nice matte (but not dry look) on my face, ideal for those with oily skin types.

Unfortunately despite being a fan this foundation it has been discontinued from the Korres line but you can pick these up for £1.99 from various online shops.

2.   Claudia Stevens Total Eye Skin Hydration – Full Size 30ml RRP £13.99

Claudia Stevens isn’t a brand I’ve heard of before but the eye cream is on point when you think about those sleepless nights. The cream claims to restore elasticity to the delicate skin around the eyes and helps the eyes look younger and smoother.

3.  Rimmel Extravagent Full Colour Lip Liner Definer – Full Size RRP £4.99

Rimmel Exaggerate Full Colour Lip Liner Definer lines and defines your lips. The soft textured, fine tipped, automatic liner gives your pout full volume colour with a perfect outline and finish. Whilst the shade “Mocha” appears to be from Rimmel’s old collection I do like the tip but the colour itself is so dark for this of the year so I’ll probably save this for autumn/winter.

4. Max Factor Earth Spirits Eyeshadow  – Full Size RRP £5.64

The Max Factor Earth Spirits Eyeshadow contains a light, silky texture that is ideal to create a subtle day look or a dramatic sexy look. Micro colour pigments mean that colours are resistant to creasing or fading. I received the shade “Smokey Gold” which surprisingly is a beautiful colour despite looking a little mediocre in the pan. It contains tiny specks of shimmer which looks stunning to dress up the eyes in the evening.

5. Ghost Floral Scarf – RRP £9.99

In terms of the lifestyle item, this scarf isn’t a bad addition it’s something that I would probably wear and being multi-functional it can be worn all year round to dress up a casual outfit or to simply add some colour.

 My Verdict

New motherhood brings with it a whole host of issues so this new concept by Mum Treats in theory is a great idea to treat those hard working mums with a mixture of beauty and lifestyle treats which they can enjoy in the comfort of their own home and in their own time. Whilst I love what Mum Treats are trying to achieve I’m not particularly bowled over by the July box, there are a few highlights and all of the products are full-sized but I think compared to the June edition it’s somewhat lost it’s sparkle this month. I would of liked to have seen products that were more on-trend and as opposed to old stock and maybe something a little more niche as they are targetting a certain market. I really do hope they bring something more to the table in the upcoming months as it’s a concept that I really love and can see being quite popular.
