The July 2014 Glossybox perfectly designed and wrapped has arrived and I think most subscribers were eagerly waiting to find out what goodies were in store this month especially when Glossybox revealed their Stars and Stripes special edition box.

This month Glossybox has gone stateside with a special edition Stars and Stripes Box, showcasing exciting beauty brands born in the USA and have brought together the best transatlantic beauty discoveries to share with their subscribers.

A box all things make-up this month and definitely one I was looking forward to. Yay to no skincare or body products. I have far too many collecting dust at the moment.

Glossybox is a  monthly beauty subscription service. The box consists of  4-5 selected hair, make-up , body and nail products from well-known brands and new brands and includes a mixture of full sized and sample products.

This month’s box included 4 full sized products and 1 sample sized product.

To see the July Glossybox spoiler and the products featured please click here

1.   Bellapierre Mineral Lipstick  – Full Size RRP £20.00

There’s a guaranteed Bellapierre Mineral Lipstick for all subscribers this month available in three summer shades which come in a red, orange or pink shade.

I was secretly hoping for the red or the pink as orange just isn’t my colour. Typically I received the orange shade in Manderina.

I’m quite pale and unfortunately this does look way too bright for my complexion to wear during the day. I think if I got a tan this would be perfect for the Summer as it really would compliment the look.

2.     Absolute New York Perfecting Eyeshadow Primer – Full Size 7.9g  RRP £3.00

This is an oil-free ultra creamy formula which evens skin tone around the eye area and keeps eyeshadow crease-free and colour true for a lasting look.

It appears that this isn’t retailed in the UK which does make it even more special.

I’m not a fan of eye shadows however this can be used under the eye area too for brightening which is certainly up my street. I guess this can also be applied on the eye lid to keep your top liner in place without it smudging throughout the day.

3.     Colour Club Nail Varnish – Full Size RRP £5.00

A nail varnish brand which I have been meaning to try as I’ve heard great things. It’s made in New York and is non toxic and contains cruelty free ingredients.

The shade which I received is called Glossy Seal and is a cross between  a blue and teal like colour. I really can’t pin point the exact tone. This shade has been especially formulated for this month’s Glossybox which kind of makes you feel special as no one other than Glossybox subscribers will have this shade.

This is quite a matte and dull shade and not a colour which I would usually go for however I am liking this it’s certainly different.

4.    Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4 in 1 Mascara –  Sample Size 4ml. Full Size 7ml RRP £19.50

I’ve never tried this US brand and this is the one product I’m sure you will agree is worth getting excited over. The mascara tube is quite unusual and the pattern is a snake skin effect.
This mascara hero has lengthening, curling, volumising and conditioning properties for healthy longer lashes.
I love anything which promises longer fuller lashes so did this live up to the above expectations? It certainly did! I loved the texture of the brush which ensured that each lash was separated without clumping the lashes with product build up. It also did a good job in lengthening too.
This is also a great sample sized product which is worth around £11.00.
5.   Carmex Lip Balm – Full Size 7.9g RRP £2.69

A well known product and a brand which is easily available on the high street. I didn’t even know Carmex was born in the US.

This is the original Carmex lip balm which soothes dry, chapped lips and contains menthol, camphor and beeswax.

A nice edition to the box.

My Verdict

I’m really liking this month’s GlossyBox  – what’s not to like it’s a box full of make-up in a vibrant American themed designed box. The products included also complimented the theme very well.  I certainly was happy to see no skincare or body products this month.

This month’s box included 4 full sized products and 1 sample sized product which is pretty amazing. There was a guaranteed Bella Pierre Lipstick in this month’s Glossybox for all subscribers which is great and some subscribers also received the exclusive nail varnish also. A good variety of make up products this month.

I am liking this new step in direction for Glossybox and fingers crossed they continue to work on delivering these standard of boxes. One of my bug bears with Glossybox is everyone’s boxes vary so much in the products they receive including the overall value of the box. I think a lot of subscribers were hoping for the Tarte Mascara and I’m pleased that I’ve seen a fair amount of boxes with these in.

Glossybox do include some full sized products which bumps up the value of the box so it’s a great price to pay to discover and trial products from well known and new brands.  I will be making use of 4 out of 5 the products featured in this  box with the exception of the lipstick as I just don’t have the right complexion tone to pull this off at the moment.

The contents within this month’s box is worth an amazing £41.69 which is great value for money and has also given me a good taster of some American brands which I’ve not had the opportunity to try before.

I do love coming home to Glossybox for the surprise aspect it’s like having a birthday present to unwrap every month!

No. of Products in the Box – 11
Total value of contents in the box – Approx £25.00+
http://www.lovelulabeautybox.com

The July 2014 Love Lula Beauty Box has arrived and it has certainly brought a smile to my face. Its packed with so many wonderful goodies.

LoveLula brings together an unparalleled selection of the world’s finest natural and organic beauty products. Their brands are hand-picked and tested: products are created using only the highest grades of ethically sourced natural and organic ingredients and must be effective, luxurious and guilt-free.

They insist on NO parabens, NO SLS’s and NO animal testing. Beyond this they seek out the most innovative companies and strive to support morally run and environmentally driven businesses. Love Lula also have a online shop which has a huge selection of the world’s finest natural and organic beauty products.

This month’s box included 1 full sized product and 10 sample sized products from the brands Cowshed, Nourish, MyChelle and John Masters Organics . The box consisted of hair. skincare and body Products this month.

1.    Cowshed Samples –  Various range of sachets.

It’s a Cowshed sample galore in this month’s Love Lula Box. I received an amazing 7 sachets which consisted of:

  • Horny Cow Seductive Body Lotion
  • Grumpy Cow uplifting bath and shower gel
  • Knackered Cow relaxing bath and shower gel
  • Lazy Cow Soothing Body Lotion
  • Moody Cow Balancing Body Lotion
  • Wild Cow Invigorating Body Lotion
  • Gorgeous Cow Blissful Bath and Shower Gel

Cowshed certainly know how to humour their customers when naming their products it fits in so well with their concept and I’m a fan already.

Cowshed products are quintessentially British and all Made in England. Inspired by nature, Cowshed’s range of honest, natural and therapeutic products, use only the best organic and wildcrafted plant extracts and the highest quality essential oils.

This great mix of samples really does give you a feel for the brand and their products. I can’t wait to try all these samples I’m sure there’s a fitting cow for each day of the week! Today may be a Knackered Cow one!

2.   John Masters Organics Shampoo and Conditioner –  Sample Sizes 30ml each. Full Size 237ml RRP £16.00

The John Masters Organics Lavender Rosemary Shampoo combines organic essential oils with organic herbal extracts to gently cleanse and keep’s hair in perfect balance. This is gentle enough to use as an everyday shampoo and smells great too. This shampoo has also been voted best haircare product in the ethical living awards in 2010.

I also received a detangler sample in citrus and neroli which is lightweight and can be used as an leave in conditioner. During the summer my hair tends to get very dry not to mention the damage of the heat styling tools i use on a daily basis! This should give my hair the extra TLC it needs.

If you want to try this brand they do a a great little sampler set for £9.99 which includes the Lavender Rosemary Shampoo, the Citrus & Neroli Detangler, the Blood Orange & Vanilla Body Wash and the Blood Orange and Vanilla Body Milk. Click here for more information.

3.   MyChelle Fabulous Eye Cream – Full Size 15ml RRP £19.00

I’m not familiar with this brand however they have a full skincare collection to target specific skin types and skin concerns using the most potent natural ingredients from around the world.

This formula nourishes the delicate eye area while minimizing the look of fine lines. Revolutionary Edelweiss Plant Stem Cells inhibit collagen breakdown and are clinically proven to reduce wrinkle depth by 15% after only twenty days of use. Hyaluronic acid binds moisture within the skin, smoothing and firming the eye area.

I can’t say that I have any fine lines or wrinkles as of yet so this probably won’t benefit me or get any usage however it’s a full-sized product and I’m sure someone will happily take this off my hands.

4. Nourish Golden Glow Illuminating Face Shimmer – Sample Size 2ml. Full Size 30ml RRP £16.00

Another brand which I have not tried. This face shimmer which comes in a cream texture contains golden mineral powders to lift and define your complexion and active Tonka bean extract that emits light to give the skin a vibrant, natural, healthy glow, as well as reducing the appearance of uneven skin tone and age spots.

I applied a little on my face and you can see the benefits straight away. The shimmer is subtle and definitely gives you more of a radiant look. I mixed a little with my moisturiser this morning and this can also be mixed in with your foundation. This has great properties for using as a highlighter also.

My Verdict

This month’s Love Lula Beauty Box has certainly brought a smile to my face. It’ss packed with so many wonderful goodies from popular brands which have no nasties in them. The box also contained a fun factor this month with the Cowshed samples.

This month’s box included 1 full sized product and 10 sample sized products from the brands Cowshed, Nourish, MyChelle and John Masters Organics . The box consisted of hair, skincare and body products this month.

A good mix of brands and products to try this month and they were very generous with the Cowshed samples. There is a sample to fit each day of the week!

This is in the same price range as the other beauty  boxes and you are getting a completely different experience compared to the others boxes in relation to the products.

Love Lula also gave a 20% off promotional code to use on their website on any of the brands which were featured in this month’s box which is valid throughout July which is a nice bonus.

This month’s box was worth around £25.00+ beating the cost of the box.

If you love organic and natural products this is definitely the box for you. I have discovered some wonderful brands thanks to Love Lula.

This month’s box shout’s out Summer and Travel and contains some great travel sized products for use at home or away .  The box mainly consisted of  body, Skincare, make up  and hair products this month. A good variety this month.

The content’s of  July’s Birchbox contents will vary. To see what you may receive please click here

If you’re thinking of signing up there is a great offer at the end of my post.

1.  Gilchrist & Soames English Spa Sea Kelp Extract Mineral Bath  – Sample Size 40ml.

I’m a fan of this brand having received a shower gel previously from Birchbox. This is a foamy gel which contains marine nutrient sea kelp to invigorate the skin and is used when running a bath. I’ve always found their products like the ones you would find in a SPA mainly because of the scent and luxurious feel. This smells quite refreshing and soothing. I can’t wait to try this.

2. Weleda Millet Nourishing Shampoo  – Sample Size 18ml. Full Size 190ml RRP £8.95

This is a natural organic fortifying Shampoo which will gently cleanse hair, while maintain your natural shine. The millet works to protect hair from becoming dry while macadamia nut oil will keep it naturally supple and includes extracts of grapefruit and peppermint which smells lovely.

This is for normal hair. My hair is quite dry and certainly not normal however they also do a range for dry hair too which I will look into as I love Weleda’s concept.

3. Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream – Sample Size 7ml. Full Size 15ml RRP £20.00

I’m a Balance Me virgin and have never tried any of their products so thanks to Birchbox I am no longer a stranger to this brand.

This eye cream is a three in one multi-tasking formula which softens, smooths and brightens thanks to its unique blend of Roman chamomile, lemon, cucumber oil, witch hazel, anti-oxidant spruce knot, virgin coconut, rosehip oil and carrot oil. This couldn’t of come at a better time and you will share my view if like me you’re a hayfever sufferer . My eyes really have a hard time this time of the year not forgetting the toll of late nights and the effect it has on your eyes in the morning. This cream can be used in the morning and evening.

Upon application this applied well and a little does go a long way. I lightly patted this around my eye area and it felt refreshing. I am hoping that continual use of this product will improve the area under my eyes.

4.   Laqa & Co Sheer Lip Lube Pencil   – Sample Size.  Full Size £14.00

I purchased the duo Laqa & Co Lip pencils from the Birchbox shop a couple of weeks ago and found that they were more of a tinted lip balm then a lipstick. I received the shade Bee’s Knee’s which is a nice light coral toned colour. This applied quite sheer and subtle giving a gloss finish. The moisturising properties are great and has a pepermint scent.

5.  Whish Three Wishes Lavender Body Butter – Sample Size 22ml.

New brand alert and there’s a great story behind this brand. A husband who researched his way to bring you Whish which is an American brand. This body cream has a unique triple antioxidant based formula which moisturises, firms and purifies. This fully loaded lotion both softens and soothes the skin while also helping to replenish and firm and is lavender scented. They also do a 6 other scents in this lotion. The scent is lovely and the cream is really moisturising and not greasy when applied. I think I have just found my next body cream! One for the wishlist.

6. Ultradex Fresh Breath Oral Spray – Lifestyle Extra – Full Size RRP £3.65

I think you will all agree that this month’s lifestyle extra is quite unusual compared to others received! None the less this spray will keep your breath minty and fresh and comes in a great handbag size. This has 130 spray uses which is great.

My Verdict

It was going to be tough to compete with last month’s box however Birchbox have delivered some great key essentials to kick start summer. I love the theme and the products which have been incorporated. These products are ideal for packing in your hand lugguage when going abroad as they are all travel sized and will be allowed to go through security at the airport.

This month’s box shout’s out Summer and Travel and contains some great travel sized products for use at home or away .  The box consisted of  body, skincare, make up  and hair products this month. A good variety of products and contained well known and new brands.

I’ve  fallen in love with the Whish Body lotion and will be eagerly awaiting for Birchbox to stock this in their online shop!

A great little box to kick start your Summer whether you’re at home or away.

Memebox ColorBox #2 Orange – July 2014

image

image

image

Price of the Box is $15.00 plus £6.99 shipping approx £13.41 including shipping
No of Products in the Box – 4 items
Total value of contents in the box – £25.32
http://us.memebox.com/memebox-global

The Memebox ColorBox #2 Orange has finally made it all the way from Korea. I was fortunate enough to be contacted by Memebox to ask if I would be interested in reviewing their boxes. I of course snapped up this wonderful opportunity as I have heard really positive feedback in relation to these boxes

Memebox is a rapidly-growing, leading e-commerce beauty retailer born in Seoul, currently headquartered in San Francisco, California and provide Korean Beauty Boxes.

They offer a huge range of different beauty boxes which caters for everyone’s needs and likes and the good news is they ship to the UK and other parts of the world for only $6.99. These are not monthly subscription boxes and are available to buy as one off’s. These sell out very quickly so you do need to be supersonic however if you are already a Memebox customer an email gets sent to you to let you know as and when new boxes are released.

Memebox kindly sent me ColorBox #2 Orange which was created for Korean beauty lovers who want to spice up their lives with their bold colour series.

This box included 4 full sized products and consisted of all things make up.

This box shouts out summer, fun and orange!

1.   Dearberry Flirt Lipstick 06 Million Dollar Orange – Full Size RRP £7.32

This is a lipstick made from naturally derived ingredients such as olive oil, cocoa butter and capuacu seed butter.

I love the packaging which is bright pink and inside is a lovely not so bright orange lipstick which I imagined. Instead this is a red/orange tone to my delight! Really happy with the colour and it’s silky smooth texture feels great on the lips.

2.   Dearberry Today Nail Lacquer – Full Size 10ml RRP £2.00

Dearberry Today Nail Lacquer series offers over 40 different shades of nail colours.

This came in an orange shade which is a perfect shade for the summer. I applied one coat and this had very good coverage. The brush was of good quality too.

3.     L’Ocean Eye Shadow – Full Size RRP £7.00

This is a matte eyeshadow which came in the shade Pastel Orange and it blends extremely well and the quality is good. This isn’t a colour I would usually go for as I don’t tend to wear bright shadows. I’m just not brave enough!

4.    Tosowoong Bronze Spectrum Waterproof Gel Pencil  – Full Size RRP £9.00

This is waterproof gel liner pencil in metallic orange for contouring your eyes. When applied this is a lovely bronze/gold colour pencil which glides on the eye really well and didn’t drag the skin.

A great summer essential to brighten the eyes!

My Verdict

This was my first Memebox and I’m impressed with everything from their packaging to the contents in the box!  A box full of make-up and all of the products were full sized.

The ColorBox #2 Orange definitely shouted out Summer, Fun and Orange! The selection of products also complemented the orange theme very well.

The box came well packaged in a padded secure envelope and I can confirm that no custom charges are incurred.

What makes Memebox very different is the variety and choice of beauty boxes which they offer their customers as a one off purchase. They release a huge amount of boxes throughout the year and will simply leave you spoilt for choice.

This box has also enabled me to discover Korean beauty products which are not available here in the UK.

The contents within this box is worth £25.32 which is small price to pay to discover these hidden secrets.

If you’re a lover of all things beauty and want to try Korean products this is the box for you. I’m already on the Memebox band wagon and have purchased two boxes since!

If you would like to try Memebox use the code TRYMEMEBOX for $15.00 off your first order.

You Beauty Discovery Box Review – July 2014

image

IMG_7031[1]

image

image

Price of the Box is £6.95 including P&P
No of Products in the Box – 5 items
Total value of contents in the box £34.99
www.youbeautydiscovery.co.uk

The July 2014 You Beauty Discovery Box has arrived and they really kept us waiting this month to reveal the items on their selection menu. The theme this month was “You Travel” – dedicated to beauty and skincare travel essentials.

“You Beauty Discovery” is a monthly beauty subscription service. The box consists of 2 selected hair, make-up and beauty products from well-known brands and new brands and they also include 2-3 bonus samples. Unlike the other subscription boxes you get to choose two products of your choice from a good selection menu each month.

I wasn’t overly excited about this month’s selection menu compared to the last two months but none the less you really can’t fault this beauty box. The most popular items such as the tan, the oil and the Shampoo & Conditioner duo all sold out within 24 hours. You have to super quick with this box not to mention battling with their website!

This month’s box included 1 full sized product, 1 travel sized duo set and 3 sample sized products which consisted of mainly body products.

For more information on what was available on the selection menu please click here

1. Tan Organic Arganic Body Oil – Full Size 100ml RRP £24.99

Initially when looking at this I assumed this went hand in hand with the Tan Organic Self Tan however whilst it accompanies the self-tan it’s also a multipurpose dry oil made with an unique blend of natural plant oils with a subtle fragrance of roses which can be used on hair, nails, body and on scars and stretchmark’s.

I love the way this oil has a silky texture and is not greasy when dried. The scent isn’t overpowering either.

A great potion which has several uses for home or away.

2. L’Occitane Aromachology Repairing Shampoo & Conditioner Duo – Travel Size 75ml each RRP £10.00 for both

I have never tried any L’Occitane products despite walking past many of their stores and ogling at their window displays!

Thanks to You Beauty Discovery I am longer a stranger to this brand. This came in a duo set which consisted of both the shampoo and conditioner in the Aromachology repairing range.

Each of these is formulated with a natural complex of 5 essential oils and helps repair dry, damaged or colour treated hair.

These smell quite luxurious and the bottle sizes are a good size too at 75ml.

3. Dove Pro Moisture Shave Cream – Sample Size

In case you were wondering I did not chose this product it was provided by You Beauty Discovery as an extra sample this month!

It’s a men’s product which is applied before shaving. My husband happily took this off my hands!

4. Egyptian Magic All Purpose Skin Cream – Sample Sachet

I’ve seen this around quite a bit and it’s a celebrity favourite all-purpose skin balm with super moisturising benefits combined with the healing powers of six natural ingredients.

This is a sample sachet which I’ve emptied into a pot to keep in my handbag. It’s always useful to keep an all-purpose balm in your bag.

5. Agent Provocateur Fatale Eau De Parfum – Sample Vial

This speaks seduction and sexy as soon as you see the packaging. Fatale is a new fragrance and contains a striking blend of Madagascan Pink Pepper A sexy, addictive Floriental, the fragrance opens with a striking blend of Madagascan Pink Pepper, succulent Mango and Blackcurrant. The voluptuous floral heart seduces with Gardenia, Orris Absolute, and sweet, smoky Indonesian Patchouli. An addictive base of sensual Skin Musk, Vanilla Orchid, Chocolate Spanish Labdanum complete the fragrance.

This smells amazing and something which I would certainly wear. It has a very sweet scent which is what I normally look for in a perfume. This lasted well too. Definitely one for the wish list.

My Verdict

Once again I am happy with my You Beauty Discovery Box this month and whilst July’s selection wasn’t as exciting as the previous months  you really can’t fault this beauty box. The most popular items such as the tan, the oil and the Shampoo & Conditioner duo all sold out within 24 hours. You have to super quick with this box not to mention battling with their website to order your items.

My box this month’s contained 1 full sized product, 1 travel set duo (chosen by me) and 3 bonus samples.

The contents within my box is worth an amazing £34.99 – more than the price of the box itself!

“You Beauty Discovery” impresses me every month. I always look forward to seeing their menu at the start of the month.  Their wide selection of products in their menu has something for everyone . This box is a complete steal for £6.95 and worth every penny.
