Birchbox is also a full-blown beauty destination where you can purchase all the brands which have been featured in their boxes with an exceptional and very generous reward program.

1.   LOC x Millie Ultra-Gloss Lip Pencil in Bohemian Rose – Full Size RRP £9.00

Being a girly girl my favorite colour in the world is undoubtedly pink so I was so excited to get my hands on this exclusive shade picked by Millie, she has great taste!

In terms of the formula, it’s lightweight but at the same time doesn’t compromise on the moisturising front so it’s a good choice for the warmer months.  Bohemian Rose is one those shades that will instantly pretty your lips, it’s not too bright yet is a really fun summer colour that you’ll be able to pull off day and night and has very quickly become a favourite within this months line up.

2.   John Freida Frizz Ease Forever Smooth Anti-Frizz Primer  Full Size 100ml. RRP £9.99

Being prone to frizz there’s nothing worse than walking out the door with great hair, and minutes later it transforms into one frizzy mess so this essential is a great choice for those who need who need a frizz fighter in their life! With ground-breaking Frizz Immunity Complex, this revolutionary leave-in primer realigns the structure of your hair, strand by strand, to strengthen your hair’s immunity, to build frizz immunity with every use. It also contains a blend of pure coconut oil and glycerides that works hard to help fight the onset of frizz from the inside out, to improve your hair’s texture and manageability, for noticeably smoother hair. The other option available is the John Freida Luxurious Volume 7 Day In-Shower Treat.

3.   Nails Inc Nail Varnish  – Travel Size 4ml.

I’m really leaning more toward mini-sized nail varnishes, they’re are ideal for saving space plus has anyone ever finished a full sized nail varnish? With different shade variations available I received Wilton Row, a pretty plum hue but it’s such a wintery colour which is a shame as I was expecting something a little more summery but happy to add this to my Autumn stash.

4.   Caudalie Micellar Cleansing Water  – Travel Size 50ml. Full Size RRP £15.00

Formulated without parabens, sulfates and phthalates, this soap-free micellar water attracts and traps dirt, oil, and makeup to gently remove impurities and cleanse your complexion without drying out the skin. The cleansing water contains organic grape water, chamomile extract and plant glycerin, all of which help to moisturise and softens the skin as well as decreasing sensitivity and providing anti-redness properties.

It’s not the best micellar water I’ve tried in terms of make-up removal but it does leave my skin feeling refreshed and the subtle orange, lemon blossom, watermelon and mint scent really awakens the senses in the mornings. If you’re a fan of micellar cleansers and you have sensitive skin, I would definitely give this a shot for your light makeup days.

5.   Indeed Labs Hydraluron Moisture Boosting Mask  – x1. Pack of 4 RRP £19.99

This fifteen-minute mask promises to give you a weekly boost of hydration for when you need that extra dose of moisture – be it when seasons change, you’ve just taken that long-haul flight or you’ve had that extra glass of wine. This ultimate hyaluronic acid-infused facial sheet mask uses a breakthrough next-generation 3D timed release of hyaluronic acid, hydrating your skin from beneath the surface for 24 hours of long lasting moisture retention. This mask leaves skin feeling softer, smoother and dewier with every use. I’ll definitely be saving this for that emergency pick me up!

My Verdict

An exclusive lip gloss pencil, a little customisation in terms of the John Frieda product, summer-ready treats and a beautiful keepsake box – I think there’s lots to love this month! I do love a good seasonal collaboration and this one by Birchbox and Millie Mackintosh is no exception with an ever so pretty exterior and summery line up to help you feel summer-perfect regardless of whether it’s sunny or raining outside. Featuring a couple of long-standing favourites in addition to some new discoveries too, this months line up encompasses a diverse yet well-rounded range of products for every beauty fan and I’ve certainly discovered some favourites but the standout product for me was the LOC Lip Gloss pencil, it’s such a pretty pop of pink which will definitely be a crowd pleaser amongst subscribers. With two full sized products (yay!) and the remainder being travel sized there’s some great sunny day essentials whether you’re having a staycation or lucky to be escaping to sunnier climes.

If you like trying out products from well-known, loved and emerging brands then Birchbox is definitely great for this. The subscription itself is affordable and the monthly rotation of treats introduces you to brands and products you might not have otherwise found, all of which can be purchased within their online shop. Whilst Birchbox send out smaller samples with 1-2 full sized items, in my opinion they are much more consistent and are more likely to send you something that you feel the need to purchase.
