Fabulous Beauty Awards 2018 Box Review – August 2018

I love fancy products just like the next person but nothing beats those tried, tested and loved beauty must-haves that you can turn to every day…cue the Fabulous Beauty Awards 2018 Box by Latest in Beauty in collaboration with Fabulous Magazine. This special edition contains a host of handpicked award winning products and is such a good all-rounder that covers a little bit of everything from every day essentials in the form of skin, hair and body care right through to make-up treats and pretty fragrances which balances the variety very well and it’s yours for just £20.00!

Up first and the item that caught my attention the most was the STARSKIN 7-Second Morning Mask 7-in-1 Miracle Skin Mask Pads (1 single use sachet), a new generation beauty innovation that delivers instant results. Ideal for busy lifestyles, this dual-texture pad is able to massage, exfoliate and tone skin using one side, whilst the other side functions as a serum, moisturiser, leave-in mask and primer. I love lazy day skin care and this is definitely something I’m looking forward to trying out.

Sticking to skin care we have the Sanctuary Spa Purifying Charcoal Bubble Sheet Mask (x1), which is another item my skin will most certainly benefit from as I’m oily skinned and also have occasional breakouts. Containing a detoxifying duo of absorbent charcoal & purifying oxygen, this black bubble sheet mask helps deeply cleanse pores & purify your skin to leave it looking revitalised. It also claims to help pores appear less visible, clearer and fresher from the first use!

Next out of the box is the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water (Travel size 100ml) and can you believe I’ve never tried this so I’m really happy this made the cut. This all-in-one cleanser and makeup remover is kind to sensitive skin and thanks to the cleaver cleaning agents which works like a magnet, gently removes makeup and impurities in one quick, easy step giving you smooth, clean skin in an instant.

Moving onto haircare this particular edit includes four products which is a little excessive in my opinion but my hair does take quite a beating with all the heat tools I use and is an absolute nightmare to manage so I’m always willing to try new things! You can expect to a full sized Batiste Dry Shampoo in the original clean & classic scent and is something I reach for daily and is a very welcome addition. Alongside this there’s also the HASK Monoi Coconut Oil Deep Conditioner (sachet 50g) and the HASK Charcoal with Citrus Oil Purifying Deep Conditioner (sachet 50g) which sounds like the perfect treat for my parched hair and is brand I’ve not tried much from but included two different types of conditioner is a great way to get to know the brand better. The last hair product out of the box is the Percy & Reed Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Overnight Recovery (Travel size), an ingenious, leave-in treatment absorbs instantly into dry hair (no messing!) helping to nourish and rehydrate every strand. Natural protein penetrates the hair and boosts its ability to retain moisture, while potent conditioning agents resist humidity, fight frizz and boost shine.

I love discovering new scents and beauty boxes are great for this! One that I’ve been wanting to try is the Missguided Babe Power (Sample vial 2ml) which is designed to evoke a feeling of strength, confidence and femininity. Key fragrance notes include grapefruit zest and sour cherry, playful candy floss and amber crystals combine to leave a provocative lasting impression. We also have a sample of JIMMY CHOO The Original (2ml).

I don’t usually suffer from dry lips in the summer but the constant use of fans in the office and at home isn’t doing my lips any favours at the moment. The Carmex Lip Pot Original (Full size) is one of my go-to’s in the winter months as well as the Nuxe lip balm so it was nice to have a back-up as I tend to also use this balm on my nose when I’ve overdone it with the tissues during the flu spell!

On the body care front we have a super skin quencher in the form of the award winning Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter™ (Mini 50ml) which not only smells incredible thanks to the ever so popular signature scent but it also does a pretty damn good job on the moisturising front thanks to the softening shea butter and aloe vera.

Up next is the Wilkinson Sword Quattro for Women Sensitive Disposable Razors (Full size), it’s not the most exciting addition out of the box but they’ll definitely come in handy! The razors have 4 ultra thin blades to give you a close shave for long-lasting, silky smooth legs by protecting from nicks and cuts, whilst also caring for sensitive skin. I’ve tried this brand many times and just can’t seem to get that close shave, I’ve not tried anything from them recently so hoping this razor converts me!

On the make up front you can expect to see the Metallic Matte Me (Full size) by Sleek Makeup in the shade Molten Topaz, Metallized Rose or Platinised Plum. A luminous matte liquid lipstick with a foil-like metallic finish that glides on in one smooth application.

I love experimenting with brow products so the WUNDER2 COSMETICS WunderBrow 1-Step Brow Gel (Full size) was probably one of the products out of the box that I was eager to try but at the same time I kind of knew that I’d end up with a shade that wouldn’t match! With, Blonde, Brunette or Black/Brown variants, it fills, defines and thickens eyebrows and is formulated as a one-step, long-wear eyebrow gel. It’s also water-proof, smudge-proof and transfer-proof, lasting for up to three days. I really don’t understand why they would send out a random brow shade, such a waste and sadly this happens a lot across the board!

Last but not least is a Beauty Pie 24hr Pass which gives you access to some fabulous makeup and skincare at cost price.

My Verdict

For the price and the overall value, I thought this was such a good themed collaboration from Latest in Beauty and Fabulous Magazine and I really liked the focus on simple yet boosted everyday basics that can easily be slotted into my current routine. Although I’ve not tried every single item, I can see why some of these products made the cut for this box as the moisturiser, lip balm and dry shampoo are already long standing favourites of mine so I’m really looking forward to trying out the remainder. On the flip side, I think it was a risky decision to include different shade variations of the brow product and with no choice offered you could most certainly end up with a colour that’s either too light or too dark plus the inclusion of four hair products was a little excessive in my opinion! Other than that there are some really handy additions inside this curation and I might just use that Beauty Pie 24hr pass to see what all the hype is all about!
