Continuing with a summer theme, this month’s Roccabox focuses again on those seasonal essentials but for me personally it was lacking in value and the contents were somewhat underwhelming apart from the perfume sample and the lip mask. Nonetheless the line-up does cover a good area of beauty and also includes some new things for me try mainly from brands that are completely new on my radar and one’s I’ve not had much experience with.
Without further ado here’s what they featured inside their June edition:
I know a lot of people don’t like seeing perfume vials inside their beauty boxes and although I don’t mind, they should really be featured as an extra treat. The Oscar De La Renta Bella Blanca perfume (sample vial) really is a beautiful scent and contains notes of dewy freesia, jasmine sambac and creamy sandalwood capture the allure of the modern Oscar de la Renta woman. Inspired by the heritage of the brand, Bella Blanca is a white floral fragrance that is as timeless and feminine as its muse. I imagined this to be really strong but surprisingly it’s just the kind of scent I go for.
While toothpaste is an everyday staple, I don’t particularly like to see them inside beauty boxes but having said that I do stash mine for when I’ve forgotten to stock up! Ordo isn’t a brand I’ve heard of before but they do the most prettiest electric toothbrushes alongside their very own toothpaste (Travel size RRP £2.50) which promises to whiten, strengthen, repair your tooth enamel and leaves a fresh taste in your mouth.
Moving onto make-up we have the Doucce Punk Volumizer mascara (Sample size), something I’ve tried previously and didn’t like so I’m gutted that it’s popped up again! This defines your lashes one by one, adding extreme volume and thickness for an audacious false-look effect with a lightweight and creamy formula that pulls every lash upwards to create a long lasting curl without any clumping, flaking, or smudging. It’s not the best mascara in the world and the brush does it no favours whatsoever!
While we’re on the subject of make-up, I can see the Beauty Blvd Divine Hydra Gel Lip Mask (x1 mask) coming in really handy as I’m a regular user of liquid lipsticks and the downside to this is some of the formulas can be really drying. Developed with cutting edge Hydra-Gel technology, each mask contains natural Green Tea extract, nourishing Red Seaweed Plant and moisture boosting Hyaluronic Acid for prolonged hydration. Anti-Oxidant rich Red Wine extract and Collagen components help to plump and smooth lips for an overall more youthful appearance.
I really appreciate receiving those basic essentials but I’m just not a fan of Wilkinson Sword products as they just don’t give me that close shave in comparison to the Gilette razors. Their Intuition FAB Women’s Razor (Full size) has a revolutionary design that lets you shave forward and back. The Unique Bi-Directional Blades mean the top blades shave up, bottom blades shave down and the water Activated Gel provides an effortless glide. I will give this a go but highly doubt it’s going to convert me, we’ll see!
My Verdict
In comparison to the other summer themed Roccabox edits, I think the August one was my least favourite from the bunch. This month’s box just felt liked it lacked something although this could be down to the fact that we’ve been receiving more than 5 products in recent months and the lack of interest in the products for me but on the plus side it was nice to see things that I hadn’t tried before and coming across a new favourite scent. Unfortunately I think the lip mask and the perfume are the only likeable items for me and I’m hoping the razor proves me wrong. In addition to the beauty treats, you can also expect to see discount codes for some of the brands features within the information card. If you’re interested in a monthly subscription with a nice mix of items without breaking the bank then this one might be for you!
