Autumn is here and with it brings cosy days in and most importantly this season’s Moi-Même Box! Yes it’s that time again, in fact it’s my favourite time as it’s one of those subscriptions that I always look forward to as they their expertly curated editions are always so relevant in accordance with the season and this month’s selection is no exception. From nourishing beauty treats, gorgeous lifestyle additions and a yummy chocolate from no other than James Cadbury who’s great-great-great grandfather is John Cadbury. I’m so ready to press pause and relax!
If you’re new to Moi-Même Box then they are a quarterly subscription box that features an expertly styled assortment of fashion, beauty and lifestyle treats and also offer both full size and premium products. The boxes are also centred around a theme and really are a true treat.
Here’s a closer look at all the goodies that made the cut inside their October edition:
As a total candle junkie especially now the cold weather has kicked in, the Lola’s Apothecary Naturally Fragrant Candle in Delicate Romance (Full Size) was just one of the big draws inside the tranquillity edit and it’s worth an incredible £42.00. I got one of the two fragrances from the collection and Delicate Romance is definitely the kind of scent that I really enjoy. This pink hued candle blends floral roses laced with warm spices and uplifting citrus and is described as a sumptuously feminine scent. I also love the pretty vessel that it comes in (which I will totally repurpose once the candle itself has been burned through).
If you’re a regular reader you’ll know I love a good hand cream so the Myroo Geranium Hand Treat (RRP £20.00) was another welcome addition amongst the line-up. Housed inside a glass pot you’ll find a rich, intensive treat for your hands that deeply nourishes the skin. It includes a blend of Avocado Butter, Grapeseed Oil and Geranium. Avocado Butter is rich in vitamins A, B1, B2, D and E for skin restoration, while Grapeseed Oil helps to maintain elastin and is high in Omega 6 for deep nourishment. The Geranium essential oil soothes, regenerates and aids circulation. I don’t usually go for balm formulas as they tend to leave your hands greasy and this one does fall within that category but it’s a great restorative treatment before you go to bed.
Next up is an unexpected favourite item from the box. I already own a few sleep masks (this is probably one of the most luxurious and the most prettiest one that I own though!) and don’t use them with any kind of regularity, so at first the StephieAnn’s Silk Eye Mask (RRP £23.00) seemed like kind of a waste. But then I realised that actually it will come in handy as the council have recently changed our street lights with a much brighter light that annoyingly shines straight through the curtains! Until my shutters are installed, I can see this coming in useful so not a waste after all!
I’m a huge fan of the ethos behind Bloomtown Botanicals and their palm-free products so I was delighted to find their Nourishing Body & Bath Oil (Full size 100ml £10.00) nestled inside the box and it comes in one of my favourite scents from them too. Their nourishing aromatherapy bath oil doubles up as the perfect dry oil for the body too! Expertly blended with antioxidant-rich Meadowfoam, Sesame, and Sweet Almond Oils + healing Vitamin E, it doesn’t sit on the skin and absorbs effortlessly into the skin making it the perfect addition in time for the winter months. For a relaxing bath, you simply add several drops to warm, running water. For silky smooth skin, massage all over body in place of moisturiser. For an overnight hair treatment, apply to ends and shampoo in the morning. It’s perfect for massage, too!
For me personally, the Night Navy Leather Bookmark (RRP £5.00) was my least favourite out of the box, only because I tend to read books on my Ipad. Nonetheless, I do love the quality and the quote which reads “An hour spent reading is one stolen from paradise”. The bookmark comes in either navy leather with silver print or white leather with rose gold print.
Last but not least and another lovely addition is the Love Cocoa Orange & Cocoa Nibs Organic Milk Chocolate, a brand that is owned by Mr James Cabury, who’s great-great-great grandfather is John Cadbury who setup Cadbury chocolate nearly 200 years ago – who knew! One of my most favourite flavours combined into chocolate is orange so I’m really looking forward digging into this! Containing luscious orange essence with crunchy cocoa nibs, it’s all combined with single origin, organic, fairly traded milk chocolate from the Dominican Republic to give a perfectly balanced bar.
My Verdict
The October Moi-Même editions always tend to feature a cosy autumn-inspired theme, and this month was no exception and it also happens to be another favourite of mine although I was secretly hoping for another pair of cosy socks – the last pair they featured were lovely and kept my feet nice and toasty! Socks aside, there was lots to love inside their October edit and my favourites so far include the candle, the bath and body oil and the eye mask. I still haven’t tried the chocolate which is a first but I’m saving it for the weekend! I think the only item that didn’t blow me away was the bookmark only because I tend to read books on my Ipad but other than they pulled out another fantastic and season appropriate edition. Now, I can imagine that one of the big deterrents for people is the price. Each box is £49.95, which is no insignificant amount of money to shell out at once but this does break down to £16.65 a month. That being said, your money is going towards luxury, full-sized products with a much higher value than you’d expect from a £10.00-£15.00 monthly subscription. Where there are variations in terms of colours, products etc subscribers can swap these for their preferred options which is so amazing.
