December is such a fun time for beauty subscription unboxings and Birchbox since I can remember have never failed on that tradition. If you’re new to Birchbox they are one of the main leaders in the beauty box subscription market. Each month they’ll send you 5 deluxe sample and travel size beauty products (including the occasional full-size!) You can expect a mix of make-up, skincare, body, and haircare to upgrade your beauty routine.

Without further ado here’s what I received inside my December Birchbox (Contents may vary. Please see the December spoiler post to see what you may receive).

First out of the box and an item that subscribers got to pick is the LARITZY Cosmetics Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick (Full size) which is comes in two shades – I received Tidal, a rich mauve and it’s so pretty! Lip products are usually hit or miss for me when it comes to shades but this month, it was a total hit plus I’m really into liquid lipsticks and enjoy trying out new brands!

On the skin care front and something I’ve been meaning to purchase having sampled this previously is the Balance Me Flash Cleanse Micellar Water (Travel size). Fortified with Mandarin Essential Oil and protein-rich Pea Peptide, the cleanser effortlessly dissolves impurities and promotes cell regeneration, whilst soothing Chamomile delivers anti-inflammatory benefits to calm redness and sensitivity. Expect smoother, brighter and more refined skin with a youthful glow. This is probably one of my favourite micellar cleanser’s that I’ve tried and the gentle yet effective formula does a fantastic job removing dirt and make-up without irritating the skin. 

Up next we have the Oh K! Bubble Sheet Mask (Full size), a really fun Korean brand that I’ve not much experience with but I’m loving the sound of this mask! The unique formula in the Oh K! Bubble Mask reacts with the oxygen in the air to form tiny bubbles when you place the mask on your face. The Bubble Sheet’s reaction works to gently exfoliate skin, helping to create a smooth and radiant complexion!

When it comes to that flawless foundation look, I rely on a good primer and one of the highlights inside this edition is the Smashbox Photo Finish Smooth & Blur Primer (sample size). This transparent primer gel smoothes skin and blurs flaws. It was developed to help makeup look better and last longer on set.

Moving onto hair care we have the Percy & Reed Totally TLC Hydrating Mask (Sample sachet) which is brimming with nourishing ingredients to leave hair soft, manageable and conditioned. You simply use it in place of your conditioner and leave for 2-3 minutes.

Alongside the above, Birchbox have also thrown in their very own designed Hair Comb (Full size) which works hard to detangle but is gentle on your hair. The wide teeth help work through stubborn knots without causing breakage and can also be used to comb through the hair mask!

My Verdict

In the spirit of the season, Birchbox definitely ended the year on a high and dropped some great brands into their December edition. I really loved what I received and not only is the selection so appropriate for this time of the year but they managed to cram in seven products this month! Also I was kind of hoping that Birchbox would give us a little extra treat for the festive season and they delivered on that front too with some chocolate! All in all, this month’s box really had it all from the pretty designed box right through to the carefully curated line-up and the overall value.
