Finally my BirchBox arrived this afternoon despite it carelessly being left outside my front door however I manged to save it just in time before the rain made an appearance!

BirchBox teamed up with Harper’s Bazaar, the fashion and beauty bible, for their May 2014 BirchBox

“Taking inspiration from the great outdoors and bringing you must-have products and fresh ideas for all your al fresco adventures”.

“BirchBox” is a  monthly beauty subscription service. The box consists of  4-5 selected hair, make-up and beauty products from well-known brands and new brands.

This month’s box included 1 full sized product and 5  sample  sized products .  The box mainly consisted of  Body, Skincare, make up and hair products this month. Definitely a good mix of products.

With BirchBox not everyone gets the same products its quite varied however everyone would of received the Benefit Mascara, Aromatherapy Associates Bath & Shower oil and the nail varnish which was available in 4 different shades.  To see the range of this months products please click here

There is also a special offer for new subscribers at the end of my post.

1.     Benefit They’re Real Mascara – Sample Size 30g. Full Size RRP £19.50

I was so happy to have received this as I have heard great things about this mascara.

Benefit They’re Real! Beyond Mascara is the mascara that’s beyond belief! This jet-black mascara lengthens, curls, volumises, lifts & separates lashes for a spectacular “out-to-here” look.

The exclusive brush is specially designed to maximise the performance of the long-wearing, glossy formula-revealing lashes you never knew you had! Staggered bristles grab close to the root, boosting length & volume beyond belief. The precision bristles on the custom-domed tip lift, define & curl even your tiniest lashes.

The end result… luxurious, silky lashes that won’t smudge, clump or dry out.

So did this live up to the above claims? It sure did. I love the formula of this product and it definitely gave the effect of false lashes.  A great mascara with noticeable results and I will definitely be adding this to my wishlist. This is a good sample size and a great addition to my make up bag – will squeeze in quite nicely!

2.   Soigne Nail Varnish in Creme Au Beurre  – Full Size 10ml. RRP £11.00

I adore this nail varnish colour and the luxurious packaging it came in which gave it quite a chic look and feel.

This appears to be a new brand in the UK as I couldn’t find any stockists apart from BirchBox.

I hope to see this brand making an appearance in our stores soon.

3.     Aromatherapy Associates Revive Morning Bath & Shower Oil  – Sample Vial 3ml. Full Size 55ml RRP £39.00

This oil Invigorates and wakes up the mind & body! My kind of magic potion as I’m not a morning person.

You can either add this to your bath or smooth it over your body before showering. I can see how this can wake you up the scent is really strong and quite overpowering. I am hoping that this smell isn’t so intense when in contact with water! Judging by the size of the sample there is only 1-2 uses out of this.

4.     Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish including a Muslin Cloth – Sample Size 30ml. Full Size 100ml. £13.25

Another product which I have heard good things about. It’s won 100 Beauty Awards!

This world-renowned two-part skincare system has a major cult following. It gently remove all traces of dirt, grime, and make-up including waterproof mascara and eyeliner but when used with the ingenious 100% cotton muslin cloth – it also sweeps away dulling dead skin cells for a gorgeous glow. Plus the moisturising cocoa butter and two of nature’s best astringents – eucalyptus essential oil and rosemary – lift dirt off the skin’s surface without disrupting the natural barrier function.

This product is suitable for all skin types which means I am a fan already!

I used this cleanser and the muslin cloth before I went to sleep and it miraculously made  my skin feel cleaner, moisturised and didn’t dry out my skin like other cleansers I have tried.  I absolutely love this product.

5. Beauty Protector Protect Shampoo & Protect & Condition – Sample Sizes approx 30ml Full Size RRP £14.00 each

I really did choose the wrong time to get my hair extensions in as I seem to be getting alot of hair washing products recently! It’s just my luck to have now received more shampoo and conditioner!

If you punish your hair with styling and heat (like me!) then Beauty Protector is for you. It aims to guard against future damage while helping to heal any that’s already been done. The Protect & Shampoo formulation is powered by honey pearl powder, which is rich in conchiolin, an ingredient that acts like the hair protein keratin. It also combats frizz and destroyed ends for glossy, bouncy locks. It’s also packed with rich vitamins and a gentle mix of sulphate-free cleaning agents.

The Protect & Condition conditioner is a super hydrating and nourishing treatment that, with the help of honey pearl powder, acts like the hair protein keratin to increase volume and shine. It’s also includes shea butter and apple, lemon, and orange.

The shampoo and conditioner are exclusive to BirchBox and smell good enough to eat!

I wont be using these until my hair extensions are out and at the moment I have a big pile of shampoo’s waiting in the queue to be used however these are now number 1 on my list.

My Verdict

I am really impressed with this month’s BirchBox and it appears that their standard has some what improved since February this year.

What surprised me this month is that the actual box design wasn’t a sleeve like the Lulu Guinness Collaboration in March. The box this time was designed in the Harper’s Bazaar theme. A very pretty colourful box which I will keep. This month’s box also came with a mini glossy magazine which was a nice addition.

The only thing which confuses me is how these products go with their “Great Outdoors” theme! It’s mystery to me!

I am relieved that I received these exact items as I was dreading seeing the Imedeen Derma One supplements in my box. These would of been wasted and unused as I am not a fan of taking medicine in tablet form let alone vitamins!

This month’s box included 1 full sized product and 5  sample  sized products .  The box mainly consisted of  Body, Skincare, make up and hair products this month. Definitely a good mix of products and the sample sizes are great for a few usages.

The contents within this month’s box is worth roughly around £25.00+.

This is another excellent BirchBox I have received this year and will definitely be using majority of the products I have received. BirchBox even won my “Beauty Box of the Month” last month.  Keep up the good work BirchBox I am liking your new step in direction.
