It’s that time of the month again and the May 2015 Period Box as always comes to the rescue reliably on time as promised to get me through the next few days in the nicest possible way. Whilst this box solely focuses on the dreaded time of the month I absolutely love the concept and it’s a great distraction that delivers exactly what I need and want with a box packed with a variety of chic and premium treats and your monthly essentials. It’s a pretty genius idea and one that’s made my life a hell of a lot easier, gone are the days where I (mainly the hubby) would usually have to run to the supermarket last minute!  This month’s line up is another great edition and I was delighted to be greeted by a familiar scent from a candle brand that I truly adore.

Period Box is a premium UK monthly subscription service that bundles your choice of tampons and pads with hand-picked goodies and exquisite treats to cheer you up when you most need it. With every box you will receive a selection of premium teas, chocolates from artisan manufacturers, high-end beauty samples and an unique design gift or a beautiful art print by their featured artist of the month. Period Box literally takes care of everything and will ship your package five days before your  period is due and no matter what your preferences are your box is completely bespoke to meet your needs both day and night.

As always the box was brimmed to the top and I love how the treats were beautifully wrapped as opposed to just being thrown in, It really gives the feel of opening presents. As well as the monthly essentials the box also included five additional items to enjoy and indulge in making that time of the month much more bearable.

1. Period Essentials (2-3 days cycle)

As always I go for the short flow customised package which is for a 2-3 days cycle that consists of a mixture of pads suitable for both day and night. Inside the box was 10 pads (mixture of day and night pads) with four liners too. Period Box caters for all types of flows and your preferences can be chosen when you curate your box.

For me personally the box always includes the perfect amount of pads and liners from Always, a brand that I trust and turn to and find them super comfortable, reliable and discreet.

2. Maskeraide Face Mask – RRP £5.00

Maskeraide is a brand I’ve not tried before but they house a incredible collection of chic facial sheet masks that combine a playful design with skin-loving ingredients. Sheet masks are huge in the Asia beauty market and although they look a bit crazy I love using them when my skin is in need of some pampering.

I received the DETOX DIVA mask which is formulated with natural Geranium Oil, Seaweed and Green Tea Leaf Extracts to helps to minimize pores, absorb impurities and protect from toxins and free-radicals without removing your skin’s essential natural oils.

3. Heathcote & Ivory Lily of the Valley Hand and Nail Cream – Sample Size 30ml

I may have a massive stockpile of hand creams but I always welcome one’s that I’ve not tried before and inside this month’s box you can expect to see a mini sized tube from Heathcote & Ivory’s Lily of the Valley Collection.

The cream itself is ideal for daily use and doesn’t leave you with greasy hands which is always a bonus but the downside for me is the cloying powder scent, I usually love floral scents but I’ve never been a fan of Lily of the Valley.

4. Flamingo Candles Oriental Lotus & Rose Otto Melt – Full Size RRP £2.00

As soon as I opened the box I was greeted to the pleasant and familiar scent of the Oriental Lotus and Rose Otto Flamingo Candle Melt.  I’m a huge fan of this brand and whilst my ever-growing collection of candles is multiplying by leaps and bounds I’ve really got a soft spot for Flamingo candles who products boast quality alongside a wide collection of gorgeous scents that fill the air with dreamy and fun aroma’s.

5. Love Tea from Pukka  – 3 Tea Bag sachets

Whatever your cup of tea, I love that Period Box include a variety of unique tea’s from different companies, mainly sourced from brands I’ve not heard of before. This month’s box features Pukka Tea, a brand that I’m quite familiar with and you can expect to see three tea bags of their Love Tea.

The Love Tea is a sweet floral Infusion of rose, chamomile and lavender to lift your spirits containing
a unique blend of fragrant herbs with fantastic soothing properties.

The blend itself contains an interesting mix and includes some of my favourite floral ingredients.

6.  Seed and Bean Organic Coconut and Raspberry Chocolate  – Full Size 85g RRP £2.49

Period Box really know how to spoil a girl and all subscribers can expect to see a full sized bar of chocolate inside their box each month! That’s right, there isn’t a sample in sight giving you a real chocolate fix as when you need it the most.

This month showcases Seed and Bean, a brand that is all about nature and creativity; contemporary, natural flavours, blended with pure cocoa beans into kaleidoscopic moments of pleasure. They are 100% organic, ethical and all of their chocolates are handmade in England.

I received the Coconut and Raspberry bar that has a sweet and sour twist. I love the combination of the dark chocolate and the bursts of tart raspberries with a delicate coconut taste in the background.

Since receiving the Period Box I’ve become quite a fan of dark chocolate and surprisingly just a couple of chucks really fulfills my chocolate craving guilt-free!

7.   Exclusive Art Print from Sam Osbourne  – RRP £5.00

Every month you can expect to see a unique gift from an art print, a design stationery to a hand crafted jewelery item.

This month I received a postcard sized print from Brightly-Coloured Design & Illustration Nerd, Sam Osbourne. Sam’s bold graphic prints and illustrations offer a world of fun and colour that spark imagination and wonder in both kids & grown ups.

I’ve recently moved into a dull looking office and this will certainly brighten up the room.

My Verdict

I always dread the arrival of my monthly visitor but this box is a great distraction and always manages to put a smile on my face as well as preparing me for the next few days in the nicest possible way. The May edition sees another fantastic line up with a great balance of both beauty and lifestyle products which I absolutely adore. With this box it’s not just about the contents you receive but the experience of the unboxing itself, it’s filled with so much love that demonstrates that the founders are very passionate about the subject and really know the way to a girl’s heart!

We all look for comforts and indulgence in the form of sweet offerings and pampering treats to get us through the cycle and this box really has all areas covered without compromising on any of the quality. It’s a great little survival kit which has something for the first day to even the last day of your period whilst accommodating for all of the uncanny stuff that happens in between!

This box impresses me month on month and makes that time of the month an escape from reality to something much more pleasant and luxurious. It really is a little box of loveliness which makes the monthly visit much more pleasant and something to actually look forward to.
