Worth over £71.48
www.lookfantastic.com

I’ve kick started the month with the March Look Fantastic Beauty Box and as per every month it’s a box which I can’t wait to get my hands on and one which I have complete confidence in.There’s many reasons why this box stands out for me but the main reason being is that I know there will be something inside which I will simply fall in love with.  Since launching only last September, this box has been a big hit with beauty lovers and addicts alike and this month’s box is definitely one of my favourite editions as it showcases a great variety of products from innovative skincare ,a couple of make up treats and a detangling brush too.  There’s so many new wonderful discoveries and the sizes of the products are really generous too with three out of the six being full-size and not forgetting that this month’s box is worth an incredible £71.48, now that’s impressive!

Look Fantastic have taken the plunge and bring you their very own monthly beauty box.  Known for providing all things beauty from A-Z via their website if anyone could successfully pull this off it’s certainly them being experts in this trade already. With  over 14,000 products online from more than 400 brands across hair, make up, skin care, nails, electrical, fragrance, health , home and organic it was inevitable that this beauty box was going to deliver and be a hit as soon as it landed. It really isn’t a surprise that these continually sell out when launched.

The box offers a selection of handpicked, must have beauty fixes wrapped in a beautifully presented box and delivered straight to your door. The beauty box will always include a minimum of six products and offers a selection of skincare, haircare, cosmetic and body products, catering to every kind of beauty lover.

This month’s box is filled with an incredible 6 beauty treats which have been carefully selected and showcases well known and premium brands along with a few new discoveries too. The box features products from Bliss, Cowshed, Caudalie, Lord & Berry, NUDESTIX and Wet Brush.

1.  Caudalie Polyphenol C15 Antiwrinkle Defense Serum – Sample Size 10ml worth £11.66. Full Size 30ml RRP £35.00

Caudalie Polyphenol C15 Anti-Wrinkle Defense Serum  is a concentrated antioxidant serum that promises to visibly reduce existing wrinkles and prevent new wrinkles from forming. This serum also defends against free radicals caused by UV rays and pollution, as well as hydrating and plumping the skin.

The serum comes packaged in a green, glass jar with a dropper dispenser and the formula is nearly opaque with a fairly light-weight consistency. This also comes fragranced in a very floral but pleasant scent, so if you’re sensitive to perfumed products, you may want to sit this one out. I’m not quite there with the anti-ageing regime but it was great to see the likes of Caudalie showcased within the box.

2.    Bliss Fatgirlslim  –  Deluxe Size 2oz Worth £9.83. Full Size 6oz RRP  £29.50

The Bliss Fat Girl Slim utilises a unique delivery system called QuSome, encapsulated caffeine molecules that target problem areas. The caffeine stimulates the skin surface and also claims to rejuvenate as well as firming to visibly reducing the dimpling effect.  The company also makes it very clear that this is not a fat or weight loss product.

I’m all for innovative products but when it comes to body-shaping treatments in the form of lotions I’m as skeptical as it gets. I only believe in old-fashioned cures like: regular exercise, eating healthy, drinking a lot of water and cutting down on bad eating habits however I’ve read really good reviews on this firming cream and seen their result statistics and it has somewhat swayed my opinion. The sample also comes in a generous size enabling a good opportunity to really trial the formula.

3.   Cowshed Lippy Cow Natural Lip Balm  –  Full Size 5ml. RRP £5.00

Cowshed is one of those brands which I think everyone has heard of due to their quirky product names and I’m always happy to receive something new from their collection to try out.
The Lippy Cow lip balm is full of natural ingredients including essential oils, rose geranium  and ylang ylang promising to soften the lips leaving them supple. The balm is quite thick with a subtle citrus fragrance that soon disappears. The key ingredient’s not only revive dry lips but also help to calm and soothe, great for winter chapped lips. I really like the non-sticky formula and it’s not too heavy and simply just sinks into the skin whilst still retaining the moisture.

4.   NUDESTIX Magnetic Eye Color – Full Size RRP £24.00

It was only recently that Look Fantastic added this fairly new brand to their portfolio and I think it was pretty nice of them to include something from the NUDESTIX collection to make the introduction to us too.

The NUDESTIX Magnetic Eye crayon highlights, colours, lines, primes and is also waterproof and crease proof making it great for all eyelids, even those that are oily.

I’m a big fan of shadow sticks, they’re time saving and only require a few swipes with some blending and you’re done. My only problem has been finding one that that has staying power and doesn’t crease.

I received the shade Gilt which is a warm golden beige shade and I can see this suiting all skin tones although there could be different shade variants this month. I adore the colour which has a subtle hint of shimmer with stunning depth. It’s a very natural shade making it perfect for both day and night wear. The creamy formula glides onto the lid without dragging the skin and it literally takes a little blending with your fingers to achieve the perfect finish. I left this on for only a couple of hours but in that time I was impressed that the shadow was still in tact.

5.   Lord & Berry Line/Shade Eye Pencil and Liner – Travel Size. Full Size RRP £9.00

Being a self-confessed black eyeliner addict, I was happy to see an eye liner from Lord & Berry. I already own the smudgeproof liner and was hoping this one would deliver the same quality and results.

The Lord and Berry Line/Shade eye pencil is formulated from a special mix of kajal and kohl to give a rich and consistent colour that will make your eyes pop. The pencil claims to blendable, long-lasting, waterproof and comfortable making it suitable for even the most sensitive of eyes. This multi-purpose pencil can be used to create a sharp line or a smudged, smokey effect.

This liner is super creamy and resistant enough to not end up everywhere by the end of the evening if you’re using it as a liner! It has an intense black pigment and I love that it also has the option of being smudged out if you want to create a smokey eye look.

6.   Wet Brush – Full Size RRP £7.99

It was nice to see a beauty tool addition within this month’s box and it’s the first that has been included since they launched last year so I was pretty delighted to see the appearance.

The innovative Wet Brush is a lightweight and easy to wield that separates all knots and tats without compromising precious strands. This is due to the revolutionary ‘Intelliflex’ technology; the thin, strong yet super flexible bristles. The ball-tip bristles can also be used for gently stimulating circulation near the scalp too! It’s suitable for all hair types, all ages and can be used on wet and dry hair.

For me personally this brush is definitely a showstopper within the box mainly because it works extremely well with my Cinderella hair extensions. Since I remember I’ve only used the tangle teezer mainly because it gently bypasses the bonds but the Wet Brush is a complete game changer for me. Not only does it detangle, the flexibility of the bristles lightly sweeps through the hair and the bonds without any pulling and actually feels like my hair has been brushed. I think it’s pretty clever that the brush is coated in rubber to prevent it from slipping out of your hand which is essential when using on wet hair especially the amount of times my brush has gone flying! I’ve not used this on wet hair as of yet but have high hopes that it will work just as well if not better.

My Verdict

Look Fantastic have showcased another great box and I think there’s a lot to love this month.  Not only does it feature a mixture of well-known brands and new discoveries but it also covers a good area of beauty with very generous sized samples and full-sized products. The box includes six items this month and boasts an incredible value of £71.40 which is pretty amazing.  I like that the box wasn’t overly dominated by skincare, it has the perfect balance and is something which Look Fantastic always get right each month. I’m thrilled with the make-up bits they’ve been including recently too, after all you can never have enough! It was also great to receive the Wet Brush this month and would love to see the inclusion of more beauty tools in future boxes.

This box never fails to impress me and it certainly gives you an opportunity to try more upmarket beauty brands without the hefty price tag. In my opinion the quality, the presentation and the product selection throughout their boxes remains to be consistently great and focuses mainly on medium and high end brands. The samples sizes are very good sized too and are ideal to accompany you on short breaks and weekends away.

It’s certainly a nice monthly treat to receive through your letter box and Look Fantastic certainly know the concept of a beauty box and are a company who get it right each month.

For only £15.00 it’s a great way to trial beauty products from brands we love and know along with some new discoveries too.

The March box is available now and as a special treat, Look Fantastic have added the ‘ghd Gold Series Styler’, worth £125.00, to 30 random boxes. Will you be one of the lucky ones?

I’ve kick started the month with the February Look Fantastic Beauty Box and I couldn’t wait to see what they had in store for us. Since launching only last September, this box has been a big hit with beauty lovers and addicts alike. This month’s box showcases a great variety of luxury hair and skin care essentials and a couple of make up treats which I’m sure will put smiles on faces this month! If that’s not enough to tempt you, this box also features a sample of a famous iconic bar of soap.  I know Look Fantastic have had numerous requests for more make up items and it’s great to see that they are taking this feedback on-board. This is certainly one of my favourite edits, there’s so many new wonderful discoveries and the sizes of the products are really generous too with two of them being full size.

This month’s box is filled with an incredible 6 beauty treats which have been carefully selected and showcases well known and premium brands along with a few new discoveries too. The box features products from Korres, Moroccan Oil, Bellapierre, Monu, Dr PAWPAW and Erzo Laszlo.

1.  Korres Citrus Little Body Milk – Travel Size 50ml. Full Size 200ml RRP £10.00

I received a sample of the Korres Body shower gel from the same citrus range last year and was pleased to see a body lotion to form a little travel/weekend duo.

The Korres Citrus body milk surrounds you with an uplifting, clean and fresh aroma and has a powdery texture to leave your skin soft and hydrated. It’s rich in trace elements awaken the epidermis with an energy boost. The combination of provitamin B5, Shea butter and Jojoba oil enhances the suppleness of the skin, while also providing long-lasting hydration. It also contains  Vitamin C and E, zinc and anti-oxidant enzymes to enhance the skin’s immune system, this is due to the active aloe’s ability to stimulate collagen and elastin synthesis, which helps to reduce the visible signs of ageing.

Just like the shower gel there wasn’t an overwhelming citrus fragrance, it’s got a subtle almost herbal scent. The body milk soaks into the skin very quickly, leaving it feeling refreshing and soft with no greasy residue. It’s also  dermatologically tested, free from mineral oil, silicone, propylene glycol and ethanolamine so it’s much kinder to the skin.

2.    Monu Illuminating Primer  –  Travel Size 20ml. Full Size 50ml RRP £27.95

I was really impressed with the last Monu skincare product I received, so I was really pleased to see this generous sized sample of their Illuminating Primer.

Monu is an ethical skincare brand, they are against animal testing and their products contain no synthetic perfumes or colours. This Illuminating Primer SPF 15 contains zinc oxide for sun protection, plus antioxidant vitamin E, and is paraben free.

The Monu Illuminating Primer which contains SPF 15 comes fragranced with a gentle scent and is suitable for all skin types. It contains illuminating, light reflecting particles to give the face a radiant and soft-focus finish. This does need to be massaged into the skin very well otherwise it will leave white traces due to the thick formula, but despite this I really love it. Not only does it help protect against UV damage, it also gives the skin a really nice dewy glow without making it look greasy on my oily skin, in fact it counter-acted the usual shine. It also grips foundation giving a much smoother canvas and a long lasting finish which keeps your make up looking fresh and intact for most of the day.

This primer can be worn alone as a day moisturiser, or under make-up as a primer. Another really great product from Monu!

3.   Dr PAWPAW Multi-Purpose Soothing Balm  –  Sample Size 10ml. Full Size 25ml RRP £6.95

I’ve not tried anything from this brand before but have read amazing reviews of this hard working versatile balm which has an endless list of uses.

Dr.PAWPAW products are 100% British made and their collection of balms are made from a variety of natural ingredients including Pawpaw (Papaya), Olive Oil and Aloe Vera Oil and when blended together, creates a multi-purpose formula.

Not only is this balm effective on extremely dry areas, it can also be used as a lip balm, moisturiser, cuticle cream, smoothing the hair or to treat skin conditions such as dermatitis and eczema. It’s even gentle enough to use on a baby’s bottom as a nappy cream which really gives you an idea of how natural and gentle the formula is.

The balm is quite thick and due to the cold weather may need a little warming up. I tried this on my lips and it felt super-nourishing without any stickiness and kept my lips moist and really soft without the need for further touch up’s.

This comes in a really handy sized sample and it’s a great multi-purpose saviour for a complete steal at only £6.95.

4.   Moroccan Oil Treatment – Full Size 25ml RRP £13.45

As the weather turns colder and gloomy, my unruly hair also takes a turn for the worse! I have thick coarse hair which annoyingly turns frizzy as soon as it comes into contact with the rain so I was pretty pleased to see this bottle which comes in a very generous size.

The Moroccanoil Treatment is infused with the precious key ingredient, Argan Oil. The formula also contains  strengthening proteins and shine-enhancing vitamins to detangle, speed up drying time and to boost shine leaving the hair smooth, manageable and nourished with each use.

The oil can be applied after shampooing for a sleek blowdry or alternatively a pea-sized amount can be applied after your blowdry concentrating mainly on the ends to add lustrous shine and softness.

I look forward to trying this wonder oil and will be interested to see how this measures up to others I’ve used in the past.

5.   Erno Laszlo Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar – Travel Size. Full Size 5oz RRP £45.00

I never thought a bar of soap would excite me as much as the Erno Laszlo Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar! The cleanser is Erno Laszlo’s most famous and best selling product, having gained a cult following since it’s original creation. Not only is this miniature soap suitable for normal, combination and slightly oily skin types, the full-size retails for a whopping £45.00 being the most expensive bar of soap I’ve ever tried.

The soap is formulated with an expert blend of 26 different minerals and is made using 97% natural ingredients. It’s enriched with therapeutic Dead Sea mud which detoxifies, hydrates and restores the skin’s mineral levels. The bar also gently exfoliates your skin to remove dead cells for a brighter looking complexion .

I wasted no time in trying this soap and although it’s a little on the small size it does the job perfectly. This lathers up pretty well and if you love that squeaky clean feeling you are in for a treat. The soap removes make up effectively and leaves the skin feeling super clean without drying or stripping the skin. I’ve been using the soap for a few days now and it’s definitely a showstopper.

This soap also goes a very, very long way so, although the full size isn’t cheap, it won’t need replacing for ages.

6.   Bellapierre Cosmetics Eyeliner Pencil – Full Size RRP £14.00

I love eyeliners but very rarely turn to shades other than black. I think the shades will vary in this month’s box and from the variations I received Snow White, the whitest of white.

The Bellapierre Cosmetics Eyeliner Pencil contains pure mineral pigments and boasts an innovative formula enriched with Botanical Waxes such as Jojoba, Safflower and Vitamin E and claims to stays put all day and night giving an intense colour on the top and bottom eyelids.

This eyeliner isn’t creamy which means it does drag the skin a little. It has a great colour pay-off and the longetivity is quite impressive with minimal smudging.

Although I wouldn’t use this on my eye lids or my water line, white eyeliner is also great for making your eyes look brighter and more awake and can even be used to highlight the brow bone for an instant eye lift.

My Verdict

Look Fantastic have showcased another great box this month with this edition being one of my favourites to date. Not only does it feature a mixture of well-known brands and new discoveries but it also covers a good area of beauty with generous sized samples, two of which are full-sized. Whist everything is very usable, the box includes a selection of showstoppers such as the soap which works wonders on my oily and spot-prone skin, the Dr PawPaw Balm which is a staple for the handbag and not forgetting the primer from Monu which I absolutely love.

This box impresses me each month and it certainly gives you an opportunity to try more upmarket beauty brands without the hefty price tag.

The February box is available now and 25 ‘T3 Featherweight 2 Limited Edition Hairdryers’ (worth £155.00) have been added to random boxes. Will you be one of the lucky ones?

Beauty Pick of the Month – December 2014

IMG_9806[1]

IMG_9809[1]

Firstly, Happy New Year to all my readers and a huge thank you for making my first year of blogging an amazing one. I’m really looking forward to seeing what 2015 brings us beauty box addicts.

It’s that time of the month again when I pick my favourite product which I received in one of my many beauty boxes. This month’s showstopper is the wonderful Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil which I received in my Look Fantastic Beauty Boxit’s done wonders for my skin this month.

If you had asked me to try an oil on my face a few months ago I probably would of run a mile! I’ve always been skeptical about facial oils and was convinced that they would never benefit my oily and spot-prone skin. I automatically assumed that I would end up with an even oilier complexion, giving spots the ideal conditions to spawn!

It was only a few months ago that I introduced oils into my beauty regime having received one especially for oily and combination skin in a previous beauty box. So I took the plunge and haven’t looked back since. I’m just kicking myself for not trying these earlier on as they really do work wonders even for oiliest skin types. It was in fact Mr Ole Henriksen himself who said “Fight oil with oil—it works like a charm”! He wasn’t wrong!

The Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil features a lightweight texture infused with natural citrus aromas and absorbs quickly to soften, condition and moisturise dull and tired skin. It’s infused with Rosehip oil, vitamin C and essential fatty acids which improves your skin’s own natural rejuvenating abilities while the tangerine and lemongrass oils soothe inflammation and minimises pores without a greasy residue.

I’ve recently had a bout of bad skin and turned to this oil, hoping it would restore my skin back to its normal state. I’ve been using this three times a week just before bed and I’ve already noticed an improved difference in my skin. My complexion is much more balanced which has prevented any further breakouts and in the morning it leaves my skin glowing, luminous, and much more happy looking. Any scars from previous blemishes also appear to be more blurred. This miracle worker is a great pick me up, perfect for brightening up dull and problematic skin this winter for even the oiliest and sensitive of skin types.

The Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil retails at £47.00 for a 30ml bottle. Whilst it is quite expensive, a little squirt really does go a long way and could possibly last a few months.

The Ole Henriksen range is available at www.lookfantastic.com

No. of Products in the Box – 6
www.lookfantastic.com

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and a well rested break. I’ve already kick started the new year early with my first beauty box for 2015, the January Look Fantastic Beauty Box and I couldn’t wait to see what they had in store for us this month. Since launching only last September, this box has been a big hit with beauty lovers and addicts alike. This month showcases a variety of luxury hair and skin care essentials, an exhilarating shower treat and a tube of Vitamin C supplements, a must-have, if you’re still feeling the wrath of Christmas past.

This month’s box is filled with an incredible 6 beauty items which have been carefully selected and showcases well known and premium brands such as Nuxe, Phillip Kingsley, Goldwell, Molton Brown, Gatineau and My Vitamins.

1.  Nuxe Crème Fraiche de Beaute Mask – Full Size 50ml RRP £19.50

We all reach out for more hydrating and nourishing skincare during the winter months as the cold weather and indoor heating play havoc on our beauty regime. The Nuxe Crème Fraiche de Beaute Mask injects the skin with a surge of moisture within 10 ten minutes and promises to provide 24 hour rehydration for thirsty skin. It’s suitable for sensitive and dehydrated skin types.

The mask hydrates, soothes the skin and instantly reduces discomfort or redness with its skin loving ingredients such as 8 plant milks, aloe vera sap, almond and orange white flowers, all of which are abundant within the lovely fragrance of this mask.

I’ve used this masque quite a few times this year and I really like the instant cooling and soothing sensation it provides as well as giving a radiant and brighter complexion.

Not only can this be used as a hydrating mask for the months of winter it’s perfect for all year round especially for soothing skin that’s been over-exposed to the sun.

2.    Philip Kingsley Daily Damage Defence  –  Travel Size 60ml. Full Size 250ml RRP £22.00

I was introduced to the iconic Philip Kingsley Elastizer only a few months ago and receiving another product from the collection is always welcomed and comes in the form of the Daily Damage Defence Spray.

This award winning anti-breakage, heat protecting conditioning spray is for all hair types and not only offers protection from daily environmental wear, such as UV rays and heated styling aids, but also instantly boosts your hair’s overall condition, manageability and shine.

I regularly use heat styling tools on my hair and I must admit I tend to stay away from using too many products before blow drying as they weigh my hair down and sometimes also make my hair greasy. However this rescue remedy is a conditioner, detangler and a heat protector all in one single spritz which makes me a fan instantly.

3.   Molton Brown Eucalyptus Body Wash  –  Travel Size 100ml. Full Size 300ml RRP £18.00

I was delighted to see a product from Molton Brown which is a brand we all know and love, and for me it’s the star product within this month’s box. There are two different variants which you can expect to see inside your box, Eucalyptus or Templetree.

I received the Eucalyptus Body Wash which invigorates both your skin and mind with it’s potent infusion of eucalyptus oil, wild mint, menthol and cedarwood. The body wash gently cleanses and conditions your skin whilst helping to clear your head to aid relaxation.

I was expecting this to be very overpowering but It’s subtly scented and you can really pick up the woody notes along with the refreshing menthol which is really warming. This is a great a pick-me-up in the morning to awaken the senses or in the evening to simply relax and unwind.

On first impressions I wasn’t expecting to like this shower gel mainly because menthol scented products remind me of cold and flu remedies, however this scent has a really nice unexpected twist and is something which I’m looking forward to using before bedtime.

4.   Goldwell Dualsenses Color 60Sec Treatment – Travel Size 50ml. Full Size 200ml RRP £11.00

Commonly used by many hair stylists, Goldwell is classed as a professional hairdressing brand that takes salons to the next level of creative excellence. I’ve not personally used any products from Goldwell and was happy to make the discovery inside this month’s box.

Goldwell have created this wonder hair product and ultra-fast working formula especially for colour-treated hair and contains a specially developed Brilliance System with anti-oxidative pomegranate extract that acts quickly and effectively on your hair to leave it silky soft and smooth with an enviable healthy glow. It also claims to have ultra-fast and effective results on your hair with an infusion of raspberry seed oil which smells utterly berrylicious!

I try to treat my hair at least once a week but when time is limited I prefer treatment shots which can simply be left on while lathering on your favourite shower gel.

This is perfect for a quick pick me up when your hair needs an extra boost and a little restoration.

5.   Gatineau Strategie Jeunesse Eye Pads – 1 Sample Pack. Pack of 6 RRP £34.50

I’ve got the common tell tell signs of tired eyes at the moment and I welcome these eye pads which promise to revive and rejuvenate your eyes. These come in the form of pads which are drenched in a soothing, marine-based collagen solution.

These eye pads help reduce dark shadows, plump out wrinkles and relax your eye contour for a more youthful, toned appearance.

I’m looking forward to trying these to banish my tired looking eyes!

6.   MyVitamins Vitamin C Effervescent Tablets – Full Size (20 tablets) RRP £4.49

MyVitamins is a brand who takes a fresh approach to health & well-being delivering vitamins, minerals & extracts for the whole family, direct to your door.

Within this month’s box is a tube of Vitamin C Effervescent dissolvable tablets containing 1000mg of Vitamin C. These tablets are available in two fruity flavours raspberry and natural orange. You simply pop one tablet into a glass water for a great tasting drink which is easy to consume.

This time of year our immune systems are really challenged by sickness bugs and Christmas fatigue and it’s very easy for our bodies to take a sudden dip. These tablets come at the right time to fire up and restore the normal function of the immune system.

The tube contains a generous 20 tablets which gives you an opportunity to road test the brand and the concept. These are a great addition to this month’s box especially if you’re still feeling the wrath of  Christmas past or feeling run down.

My Verdict

Look Fantastic have showcased a great box to kick start the new year and features mainly premium brands giving their customers a tip to toe discovery experience covering both inner and outer beauty this month.

The January edit has all area’s covered and includes a selection of winter skincare essentials, products to prep and prime the hair, a refreshing shower gel and a tube of energising vitamins to give you a little boost if you’re still all partied out from the festive season. The box boasts six products this month with two being full size.

This box impresses me each month and it certainly gives you an opportunity to try more upmarket beauty brands without the hefty price tag. I’m pretty chuffed with the January line up which has a good selection of products to road test including a few new discoveries.

For only £15.00 it’s a great way to discover new brands and products from brands we love and know.

The January box is available now and 20 ghd Eclipse Stylers (each worth £145.00) have been hidden in 20 boxes. For more information please visit:

After the success and the great response of last months box which was my all time favourite from Look Fantastic I couldn’t wait to unveil the December 2014 edition which to no surprise even tops last month’s box in my opinion. Look Fantastic have pulled out all the stops with this showstopper edit which boasts seven products this month. The line-up covers all areas and includes a variety of skincare essentials, an innovative hair comb and make up must-haves for creating the perfect smokey eye look for the party season upon us.There’s also a bottle of Gold Collagen supplement for boosting your inner beauty too.

Really isn’t a surprise that these continually sell out when launched.

The box offers a selection of handpicked, must have beauty fixes wrapped in a beautifully presented box and delivered straight to your door. The beauty box will always include a minimum of six products and offers a selection of skincare, haircare, cosmetic and body products, catering to every kind of beauty lover.

This month’s box is filled with an incredible 7 beauty items which have been carefully selected and showcases well known and premium brands such as Murad, Elemis, Ole Henriksen, Lord and Berry, Bourjois, Gold Collagen and Macadamia.

1.    Macadamia Healing Oil Infused comb -Full Size RRP £6.00

Whilst I’ve seen many reviews of the Macadamia haircare range I’ve not tried any of their products and was happy to be introduced to this innovative comb which claims to smooth, condition and detangle your hair whilst combing your hair.

The Macadamia Natural Oil Infused Comb is a unique detangling comb which treats hair whilst you style. This special resin comb is infused with with Macadamia Natural Oil’s Healing Oil, allowing the hair to be treated every time you comb. Hair is easily detangled, whilst the oil is distributed evenly to nourish, moisturise and add shine and smoothness.

I used this comb on washed hair and after blow drying my hair and it simply glided through without any pulling or tugging, although I didn’t really notice any additional shine or softness to my hair it managed to un-tangle my hair effortlessly. With it being oil based I automatically assumed that this would leave my hair feeling greasy and surprisingly there wasn’t a trace of oil.

Winter is my hairs worst enemy and trying to keep my hair extensions tangle-free is some what of a challenge. This comb is the perfect solution for when I’m on the go and easily fits into my handbag.

2.    Lord & Berry Silk Kajal Kohl Eyeliner  –  Travel Size

Eyeliners play a huge role in my daily make-up regime and was happy to receive another as a back-up. This one is more of a travel sized liner which is great for when your traveling light or when space is very limited in your make-up bag.

I tend to reach out for kohl liners as they tend to be more creamy allowing smoother application and the colour pay off usually has more depth and pigment.

I currently own this liner by Lord & Berry and it glides onto the water line effortlessly. I find that this also works incredibly well on the eyelid too for creating a smokey eye look. Although the longevity isn’t great I find that using a primer tends to set the liner much better.

This liner is also ophthalmologically-tested and gentle enough to be used on the inner eye, perfect for those who have sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.

3.   Bourjois Intense Smoky Palette –  Full Size RRP £7.99

Dark smokey eyes are my favorite make up look during the winter.  The Bourjois palette features 2 eye-catching eyeshadows, a dark plum base and a shimmery grey shade with has a pearl finish perfect for creating refined, bold smoky effects. Within the palette is also a cream liner designed to give structure to the eyes and provides an extra touch of intensity to the eyeshadow and comes in a purple shade. The palette also comes with a double ended applicator, a sponge tip and a small liner brush.

These are very easy blend however I found that a sponge applicator worked better in picking these up as opposed to a brush. All three colors in the palette have amazing pigmentation and look really flattering when combined together and can be used wet or dry depending on the intensity

On the back of the packaging you’ll find professional makeup artist tips that give you step by step instructions to help you achieve a classic smoky eye. Although it’s pretty small, it’s perfect to accompany you when you’re on the go or traveling.

4.   Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel – Sample Size 15ml.

This Papaya Enzyme Peel by Elemis has won the Harper’s Bazaar Best Peel in the past and is formulated to brighten and promote skin cell renewal. It’s natural plant extracts work to soothe, repair and protect your skin from environmental pollutants and daily stresses. Enriched with natural exfoliating extracts of Papaya and Pineapple which smooth your skin and is full of antioxidant Vitamins to nourish and protect your complexion.

Unlike most masks this feels more like a gel/serum. It’s quite thick but applies easily and evenly and doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. The scent is deliciously fruity and isn’t intrusive. I left it on for about 15 minutes and washed it off with lukewarm water. I really thought this was a peel off mask which I was looking quite forward to! Nonetheless I really enjoyed the texture and my skin looked much fresher and brighter after using it.

5.   Murad Essential-C Cleanser  – Sample Size 45ml

I’m always on the look out for a good cleanser and was happy to give this one by Murad a whirl.

This fruity, fresh, antioxidant rich cleanser combats the daily impact of the environment and it’s pollutants by washing away impurities and restoring moisture whilst soothing stressed skin.

The clear gel based cleanser contains tiny orange micro beads which burst during the use. It’s designed to clean and purify your face while injecting a healthy dose of moisture back to dehydrated skin.

This is quite foamy, but I like that in a cleanser as it feels like I’ve cleaned my face properly.

The cleanser is infused with mandarin orange, basil and grapefruit oils which has a citrusy uplifting scent. I’m really impressed with this cleanser which leaves the skin feeling fresh, clean and refreshed. Due to its uplifting scent it’s a great pick me up for the morning and is probably best suited for acne prone, oily-combination skin types.

6.  Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil – Deluxe Size 15ml

Within this months edit includes a deluxe sample from Ole Henriksen. I’ve hardly tried anything from this brand apart from their cleansing wipes which didn’t disappoint. With the full size only being 30ml it’s amazing that this sample is 15ml.

The Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil features a lightweight texture infused with natural citrus aromas and absorbs quickly to soften, condition and moisturize dull and tired skin. It’s infused with Rosehip oil, vitamin C and essential fatty acids which improves your skin’s own natural rejuvenating abilities while the tangerine and lemongrass oils soothe inflammation and minimise pores without a greasy residue.

It’s only recently that I’ve incorporated facial oils into my beauty regime and I’m no longer skeptical that these only work for dry skin types. These work just as well for oily skin too.

I’m looking forward to seeing how the Ole Henriksen oil measures up against the oil I’m currently using.

7.  Pure Gold Collagen – Full Size 50ml RRP £3.59

I keep seeing this brand pop up and it was only a few months ago where I received a sample of this.

The Gold Collagen liquid supplement range is a ten day programme and comes in a pack of 10. This is a liquid food supplement that improves the skin’s appearance by working from within and counteracts the ageing process from the deep layers of your skin. Enriched with a special blend of natural ingredients, it re-activates the formation of collagen to give you brighter, plumper and more youthful looking skin. These come in a variety of different flavours and I received the peach and passion fruit.

I’m terrible at taking supplements and tend to avoid them as I can never stick to them for more than a week. Whilst you won’t notice any results with just the one bottle it’s a great opportunity to try the brand and their concept.

My Verdict

After the huge success of last month’s box, Look Fantastic have pulled it out of the bag once again and have delivered another well curated box which has a great balance of products featuring well known brands and a couple of new discoveries for me. This box impresses me each month and it certainly gives you an opportunity to try more upmarket beauty brands without the hefty price tag. I’m pretty chuffed with this months line up as I’ve been on a quest to step up my beauty regime and there’s a great selection of skincare products for me to road test.

This months edit has all area’s covered from skin loving treats, make up for the party season and a hair fix perfect for tackling the months of winter. The box is filled with an incredible 7 beauty items, 2 of which are full sized and showcases well known and premium brands such as Murad, Elemis, Ole Henriksen, Lord and Berry, Bourjois, Gold Collagen and Macadamia.

As an extra treat, Look Fantastic also included a £10 gift voucher to spend on luxury fashion site, Coggles.com.

In my opinion the quality, the presentation and the product selection throughout their boxes remains to be consistently great and focuses mainly on medium to high end brands. The samples sizes are very good sized (more travel sized).

It’s certainly a nice monthly treat to receive through your letter box and having had a few tasters I think it’s safe to say that Look Fantastic certainly know the concept of a beauty box.

For only £15.00 it’s a great way to discover new brands and products from brands we love.

The December box is still available via the Look Fantastic website however it won’t be around for long.
